PMS 2573 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, designed for applications requiring precise color matching across various substrates and production methods. This color is muted, soft, and distinctly cool-toned, with a subtle, contemporary quality. Its vibe is clean, modern, gentle, professional, and reserved, making it suitable for branding or environments seeking a touch of color without visual overstatement.

PMS 2573 C appears as a medium-light lavender-violet, with moderate lightness (LRV 27.03). The color displays a cool temperature, owing to its blue-violet undertone. Saturation is moderate; the hue is noticeable but restrained and not overly intense. The undertone is blue-based, with perceptible violet influence, minimizing warmth. Color appearance is moderately sensitive to lighting conditions and may shift subtly between daylight and artificial light. Appearance can vary based on finish; higher gloss may increase chroma, while matte applications tend to subdue its vibrancy.

PMS 2573 C works well when a controlled, recognizable lavender is needed for branded environments, displays, or product components. It maintains a balanced presence: strong enough to stand out from neutrals but soft enough to avoid overwhelming a palette. Evaluate this color in the intended finish and under dominant lighting conditions, as it can appear cooler or more subdued depending on surroundings. Compared to similar colors, PMS 2573 C tends to be less saturated and less intense, making it adaptable for both modern and traditional applications requiring a distinctive, yet sophisticated purple shade.

Similar colors:
PMS 2563 C: Slightly lighter and less chromatic, delivering a softer, paler appearance in the same general color family.

PMS 2583 C: Noticeably darker and more saturated, with a deeper, more intense violet impression.

PMS 2725 C: More vibrant and distinctly blue-leaning, resulting in a much cooler and higher chroma purple.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2573 C

What is the best way to compare PMS 2573 C paint samples for approval?

For meaningful approval of PMS 2573 C, always compare samples under consistent lighting conditions, ideally the lighting that will be used where the color will be seen most. Ensure all samples are applied to the same substrate and have the identical finish (such as gloss or matte). Let painted samples fully dry and cure before making a final judgment, as PMS 2573 C can shift subtly in appearance until it is set. Small differences in finish or substrate can cause noticeable visual variation, so consistency is essential to an accurate comparison.

How should I prepare a surface before applying PMS 2573 C matched paint?

For best results with PMS 2573 C, clean the surface thoroughly to remove dust, oil, and contaminants. Use a degreaser if necessary. Light scuffing can help the paint adhere, especially on glossy or slick surfaces. Always test PMS 2573 C in a small, inconspicuous area first to confirm adhesion and appearance before proceeding with full coverage. This preparation ensures a consistent, durable finish that accurately reflects the intended color.

What should I expect when requesting a PMS 2573 C color match for marketing or display use?

PMS 2573 C, like all Pantone colors, is a standard reference, not a specific paint formula. Matching it precisely across different materials or finishes can be challenging, especially because lighting and substrate can affect how it looks. MyPerfectColor specializes in creating visually accurate results for marketing and display, but be aware that highly saturated or cool-toned purples may require multiple coats for full hide and evenness. Review a sample before committing to large orders to ensure the color meets your branding needs.

When is it appropriate to order a standard PMS 2573 C match instead of requesting a custom sample?

A standard PMS 2573 C match is appropriate for brand-facing displays, signage, exhibit components, prototypes, and marketing projects where aligning with the Pantone PMS reference is the main requirement. If the application does not demand exact matching to previously painted surfaces, and visual brand consistency is your goal, ordering a standard match will streamline your process. For permanent, multi-material, or highly visible installations where approval is critical, consider confirming with a physical sample first.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2573 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2573 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
