PMS 2592 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color recognized for its vivid, bold magenta-violet appearance within the Pantone PMS collection. The color leans toward the cooler end of the spectrum, characterized as dynamic, saturated, and statement-making. Its relatively low LRV indicates it is a distinctly dark color, contributing to its pronounced presence on both white and neutral backgrounds. The hue angle and strong chroma support its suitability for high-visibility branding and marketing applications where color consistency is required across materials and lighting conditions.

PMS 2592 C appears distinctly dark (LRV 9.54). The color is cool-leaning within the purple/magenta range. The color exhibits high saturation and chroma, resulting in notable vibrancy. Undertones present as a vivid magenta with a subtle blue-violet bias. The color may be sensitive to finish, with gloss finishes increasing perceptual depth and matte finishes muting its intensity.

PMS 2592 C is often specified for brand activations, marketing displays, and environmental graphics where differentiation and visual energy are important.

PMS 2592 C works effectively when clear color distinctiveness is needed, especially for branding-oriented projects, displays, and signage that must stand out in both natural and artificial lighting. Due to its high chroma and lower LRV, it can appear even deeper in low-light conditions and may shift depending on finish. It is advisable to sample this color in the intended finish and lighting prior to large-scale application, as coverage may require additional coats—especially over lighter substrates. When compared to similar magenta or violet hues, PMS 2592 C generally reads as deeper and more visually saturated.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Similar colors:
PMS 2597 C: Similar in chroma but significantly bluer and slightly lighter, resulting in a cooler, more electric character.

PMS 2405 C: Similar magenta base but lighter and less saturated, presenting a softer appearance.

PMS 254 C: Shares a violet undertone but is marginally darker and less vibrant, making it more muted.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2592 C

What does it mean to order paint matched to Pantone PMS 2592 C?

When you order paint matched to Pantone PMS 2592 C, you are requesting a color that targets the visual appearance of PMS 2592 C as defined by the Pantone Matching System. This is a standardized color reference used for consistent reproduction across different vendors and materials. It is important to understand that the Pantone PMS code defines a visual color target, not a specific paint formula, manufacturing process, or finish type. Appearance can vary depending on finish, substrate, and lighting. For best brand alignment, always compare samples to a physical Pantone reference in your intended application conditions.

How can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint made in Pantone PMS 2592 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint matched to Pantone PMS 2592 C depends on the specific type of paint or product you select, not the color itself. To find the correct SDS, refer to the SDS library or resources provided for the base product type, such as spray paint or urethane. Ensure you are viewing the SDS for your intended paint format and base, since PMS 2592 C only specifies the color target, not the chemical composition or hazards of the product.

What should I consider when using Pantone PMS 2592 C paint for pop-up or retail brand environments?

When using Pantone PMS 2592 C in pop-ups or retail settings, prioritize durability for high-traffic surfaces and evaluate color appearance in the actual lighting where it will be viewed. Highly saturated colors like PMS 2592 C can shift visually under different conditions, and finishes affect how vivid the color appears. Always order a sample in your intended finish and test it in your target environment before full-scale application. This helps confirm visual alignment and ensures the finish meets project requirements.

How should I prepare surfaces before applying Pantone PMS 2592 C paint?

For best results with Pantone PMS 2592 C paint, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of grease or debris. Begin by thoroughly cleaning and degreasing all areas to be painted. Lightly scuff smooth surfaces if recommended for your substrate to improve adhesion. It is advisable to apply a test spot of PMS 2592 C in an inconspicuous area to confirm compatibility and appearance before the main application, especially since saturated colors may require more coats to achieve uniform coverage.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2592 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2592 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
