PMS 239 C is part of the Pantone Matching System, widely used for standardized brand communication across print, product, and environmental design. The color is best described as vibrant, saturated, and energetic with a modern feel. Its character leans bold and attention-getting, with a notable intensity and a cool magenta impression. PMS 239 C supports clarity, distinction, and strong visual recognition in professional settings where accurate color reproduction is critical.
- PMS 239 C appears markedly dark for a magenta with an LRV of 21.05, signifying relatively low reflectance. - The color expresses a cool temperature due to its magenta hue and blue-red balance. - PMS 239 C demonstrates high saturation and chromatic purity, showing little grayness or muting. - The undertone is distinctly blue-biased, heightening its clarity as a true magenta. - The color can be finish-sensitive; glossier finishes amplify perceived saturation, while matte finishes reduce vibrancy.
- PMS 239 C is frequently chosen for branded displays, retail fixtures, and event environments to create high-impact focal points. - The color is often specified in visual identity programs requiring strong differentiation from standard red or violet hues.
PMS 239 C works well for applications emphasizing energy, modernity, and clear brand presence. Color accuracy is material- and lighting-dependent, so viewing samples on actual substrates under intended lighting is recommended. Due to its strong chroma, coverage and hide may be lower compared to less saturated colors, possibly requiring more coats for even appearance. It maintains its vibrancy and clarity among similar magentas, but cooler lighting can further intensify its bluish undertone, while warmer lighting may slightly mute its brightness. Finish selection influences perceived intensity, making glossier options more vibrant but potentially highlighting surface imperfections.

PMS 239 C is often specified as a brand-standard color for signs, displays, and exhibits where strong, consistent visual impact is required. Using this Pantone code signals a need for standardized color reproduction across different elements and vendors. For best results, order physical samples of PMS 239 C applied to your intended substrate and finish, then view them under actual project lighting before finalizing production. This approach helps confirm that the vivid magenta appears correctly in your environment and meets brand expectations.
Ordering a standard Pantone PMS match for PMS 239 C is appropriate when you need to meet brand guidelines for color, particularly in marketing, display, exhibit, or prototyping applications where the goal is to visually represent the Pantone reference. This includes most branded graphics, retail fixtures, event environments, and concept models where maintaining color consistency for brand recognition is the priority. For these situations, a standard match aligns the finished appearance with established Pantone targets rather than requiring a physical part for precision matching.
Safety and VOC (volatile organic compound) levels for PMS 239 C paint depend on the specific format and product you choose, such as spray paint, urethane, or house paint. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) supplied with your product, follow ventilation and protective equipment recommendations, and adhere to safe handling and disposal practices. Never assume all Pantone-matched paints share the same safety profile; each may have different requirements based on its chemistry.
PMS 239 C is designed as a brand color target for new production, display, and marketing uses, not for touch-up or repair. If your goal is to touch up an existing part that references PMS 239 C, it is best to send a physical sample of your part for a custom match. This ensures compatibility and better blend-in, as different materials, aging, or finishes can cause the same PMS code to appear differently. Only use PMS 239 C standard matches when brand-consistent appearance is the goal, not for repairing or maintaining existing items.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
