Pantone® PMS 215 C Disclaimer: The colors shown on this page are simulations of the actual Pantone color and may not match PMS standards. MyPerfectColor matches Pantone PMS 215 C by spraying official Pantone color swatch books and is an official licensee of Pantone LLC. This is for reference only. For the most accurate color representation, use a Pantone Publication or refer to a Pantone Standard Chips. Pantone® and other Pantone trademarks are the property of Pantone LLC.

PMS 215 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a bold, vivid magenta with a distinctly modern, attention-grabbing appearance. Its character is assertive, energetic, technical, clean, and highly saturated, making it a frequent choice for applications requiring strong visual identity. The color’s low light reflectance value means it reads as deep and intense, delivering maximum chromatic punch in controlled environments and print or painted finishes.

PMS 215 C is distinctly dark, with an LRV of 10.09, resulting in a deep visual presence.

The color is cool-leaning due to its underlying magenta base.

PMS 215 C is highly saturated, maintaining strong chroma and vibrancy in most finishes.

The color exhibits a slight bluish undertone common to magenta-based hues.

PMS 215 C can shift perceptually depending on lighting (notably cooler under LED or daylight-balanced sources) and finish (gloss increases vibrancy, matte slightly subdues).

PMS 215 C is often used in point-of-sale displays, brand installations, and event environments that require a memorably bold magenta.

The color is specified in printed and painted components for product launches and branded activations targeting high visual impact.

PMS 215 C is selected when a visibly intense and unmistakable magenta is required for branding or display. Achieving full coverage may require additional coats, especially in less opaque finishes or over contrasting substrates. The color responds distinctly to lighting conditions, appearing cooler under certain artificial lights. For critical brand applications, always review a real paint sample and Pantone reference under intended project lighting and finish. Among saturated magentas, PMS 215 C occupies a strong midpoint: it is deeper than lighter, "pink" magentas, while retaining more purity than duskier or heavily blue-shifted options.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 214 C: Slightly lighter and less dark, with less visual depth.
  • PMS 2425 C: Deeper and more purple, appearing cooler and duskier.
  • PMS 227 C: Slightly warmer and closer to a red-violet, with a marginally lower chroma.
  • PMS 213 C: Lighter and more vibrant, with increased brightness and less dramatic depth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 215 C

What challenges should I expect when matching Pantone PMS 215 C, and how does MyPerfectColor address them?

Matching Pantone PMS 215 C can be technically demanding because it is a deeply saturated magenta with strong chroma and low light reflectance. These characteristics make it more sensitive to changes in material, application method, and finish. MyPerfectColor addresses these challenges by matching against official Pantone references using controlled spray application and visual verification. For best alignment with brand standards, always compare a physical sample under your project lighting before full production.

How should I use samples of PMS 215 C in brand approval workflows?

For PMS 215 C, it is recommended to order a small painted sample prior to large-scale fabrication or installation. Review the sample under the exact lighting and on the same substrate as your final project. This process allows stakeholders to confirm visual alignment with Pantone standards before committing to a full order, helping prevent discrepancies that can arise from finish or lighting effects.

Can Pantone PMS 215 C be cross-referenced to colors from other paint brands?

Pantone PMS 215 C is part of a unique palette not directly convertible to other paint collections. Most paint brands use proprietary color systems, and vivid magentas like PMS 215 C rarely have true equivalents elsewhere. For consistent branding, specify PMS 215 C directly and avoid substitutes from other brands when color precision is required.

What should I consider when applying PMS 215 C on metal or powder-coated parts?

When applying PMS 215 C to metal or pre-coated surfaces, surface preparation is important. Clean and scuff the substrate to promote adhesion, and be aware that existing gloss or base colors can affect the final appearance. Always evaluate a sample of PMS 215 C on the actual material before production, as color and finish shifts are especially noticeable with saturated hues like this magenta.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 215 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 215 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 215 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How much area will one spray can cover? And what is Pantone PMS 215 C spray paint made of?

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 215 C. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

The Pantone PMS 215 C is the color and the SDS is based on the type of paint used to make the color. You can find Safety Data Sheets here for our most popular products.
Do I need a primer for Pantone PMS 215 C?
The need for primer for Pantone PMS 215 C depends on the type of paint, the substrate being painted and where it will be located. See our Primer Selection Table to see what primer you might need and learn more about when you might need a primer. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 215 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 215 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
