PMS 1955 C is a standard color in the Pantone Matching System collection, recognized for its deep, saturated red character. Its visual impression is intense, bold, and assertive, with a substantial presence due to its darkness and chromatic strength. The color conveys a serious, impactful, and authoritative vibe and is often characterized as vivid, rich, and professional, aligning with branding and marketing applications where a distinctive red is required.
- PMS 1955 C appears dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 7.54). - The color has a warm tendency due to its red hue angle. - PMS 1955 C exhibits high saturation, presenting as a strong, vivid red. - The undertone is slightly bluish, lending depth and preventing an overly orange appearance. - This color can appear deeper or more muted in matte finishes, and brighter in high-gloss or well-lit conditions.
PMS 1955 C works well in brand-centric environments where an assertive, memorable red is specified, such as for signage, display fabrication, or marketing prototypes. Lighting should be evaluated carefully: under cool, indirect light, the color can appear deeper, while strong direct light can enhance its chromatic vibrancy. As a very saturated red with low LRV, coverage over lighter substrates may require additional coats for uniformity. Compared to similar reds, PMS 1955 C maintains a distinctly deep, bluish undertone without veering into burgundy or orange territory.

To order PMS 1955 C accurately, always use the full Pantone code along with any suffix, such as 'C' for coated. Referring only to 'red' or by color name without the number risks receiving a different shade. Pantone color numbers with the correct suffix define a precise visual target in the Pantone Matching System, which is essential for brand consistency on displays, signs, and exhibits. Double-check brand standards or artwork requirements to verify the correct code before placing your order.
PMS 1955 C is best used as a brand color standard for new fabrication, displays, or prototypes where visual match to the Pantone target is the goal. If you need to achieve spot matching or blend seamlessly with an existing object, Pantone-based color reproduction may not account for the specific finish, wear, or substrate effects of your part. For critical surface matching, sending a physical part for custom matching is recommended to address those variables and achieve the closest result.
PMS 1955 C is a standardized Pantone color commonly used in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication to ensure visual brand consistency across various materials and vendors. Specifying this code gives everyone a clear color target regardless of substrate or process. However, because appearance can shift based on surface and lighting, reviewing a sample of PMS 1955 C on the actual material and finish intended for your project is highly recommended before full production or installation.
One spray can of PMS 1955 C generally covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on a smooth, primed surface. Since PMS 1955 C is a deep, saturated red with low light reflectance, additional coats are often needed for full, uniform coverage, especially over lighter or high-contrast substrates. Surface texture, porosity, and user technique will impact actual coverage. Plan for at least two coats for best results and consider extra material for complex or high-visibility projects.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1955 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
