PMS 1788 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color, recognized for its vivid, energetic, and visually impactful presentation. This color communicates high visibility and immediacy, making it a frequent specification for brand experiences and marketing-driven projects. The overall vibe of PMS 1788 C is bold, assertive, contemporary, and memorable, while maintaining clarity in both indoor and outdoor professional applications.

PMS 1788 C is moderately dark, with an LRV of 21.05. The color presents a distinctly warm tendency, leaning toward an orange-red with no evident coolness. This color exhibits high saturation, delivering a consistently strong chromatic impact. PMS 1788 C features a strong, warm undertone that enhances its vibrancy. The color’s perceived intensity and depth can be sensitive to gloss and sheen, with higher gloss finishes increasing apparent brightness and saturation.

PMS 1788 C works well for projects that require immediate visual attention and clear brand signaling, particularly in marketing installations, signage, and event branding. Its high chroma and relatively low LRV mean that appearance will shift noticeably based on lighting and finish selection; higher gloss will amplify vibrancy, while matte finishes can deepen and soften the visual effect. Extra attention is recommended for surface preparation and proper priming, as vivid colors like PMS 1788 C may require additional coats to ensure full opacity and uniform color. When targeting precise brand color representation, always verify color in situ with both a certified Pantone guide and a physical paint sample under expected lighting conditions.

PMS 485 C: Similar in warmth but less intense, presenting a more neutral red.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1788 C

How is Pantone PMS 1788 C used to ensure a consistent brand experience?

Pantone PMS 1788 C is a standardized brand color that helps teams create a unified visual identity across marketing materials, displays, and environments. By specifying PMS 1788 C, brands can communicate a clear color target to all vendors and fabricators, reducing the risk of color inconsistencies. Using this Pantone PMS code ensures that projects like signage, exhibits, and branded installations achieve the intended look and stand out with predictable visual impact.

What should I know about coverage and undercoating when using Pantone PMS 1788 C paint?

Pantone PMS 1788 C is a highly saturated, vibrant red that may require additional coats for full coverage, especially over contrasting surfaces. Using an appropriate primer or undercoat, such as a tinted base that is close in tone, can improve uniformity and help reduce the number of finish coats needed. Always plan for extra material and confirm hide expectations ahead of critical branding or display installations.

Why does it matter that Pantone PMS 1788 C is reproduced under license?

Pantone PMS 1788 C is a defined standard for brand color, so authorized reproduction is critical to achieving a reliable color result. Paint produced under license, like that from MyPerfectColor, is matched directly to Pantone specifications to support consistent application across branded projects. This gives confidence that your PMS 1788 C order aligns as closely as possible with Pantone standards for high-visibility environments.

What product formats are available for Pantone PMS 1788 C, and how should I choose which to order?

Pantone PMS 1788 C can be ordered as custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other paint types depending on your project needs. For large surface areas or displays, spray paint or coatings are often preferred for even coverage. Paint pens and brush-in-cap bottles are helpful for prototypes or precise application on smaller items. Select the format that best fits your installation method and project scale.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 1788 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
