PMS 119 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, which is widely used for consistent color specification in brand, marketing, and industrial design applications. This color presents a muted, deep yellow-olive appearance with a slightly brownish cast. Its overall vibe can be described as subdued, earthy, utilitarian, technical, and stable, making it practical for branding that aims to communicate reliability and groundedness.

PMS 119 C appears as a dark, muted yellow-olive. The color has a relatively low LRV of 18.42, indicating it is perceptibly dark. The color demonstrates a warm tendency, leaning toward yellow and green with subtle brown undertones. PMS 119 C is moderately saturated with a subdued chromatic character, avoiding vibrancy or brightness. The color exhibits earthy undertones that may become more pronounced under matte or low-gloss finishes. Perceived warmth and depth may vary depending on lighting conditions and finish type.

PMS 119 C works well in contexts where a distinct, earthy yellow-olive is needed without overwhelming brightness. It’s useful for environmental branding, exhibit design, and applications where a grounded, technical sensibility is desired. Users should evaluate this color in the intended lighting—particularly as low-gloss and matte finishes can intensify its muted, brown-green undertone. Surface preparation is important to ensure uniformity, as this color’s darker value may amplify inconsistencies. When compared to other earthy yellows or olives, PMS 119 C is typically less green and less saturated, which gives it a more technical or understated appearance.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 119 C

What durability should I expect from PMS 119 C spray paint in branding and display applications?

The durability of PMS 119 C spray paint depends on proper surface preparation, the type of substrate, and environmental exposure. For brand signage, displays, or exhibit components, ensure the substrate is clean and primed as needed to support adhesion and uniform appearance. Consider whether the display will be indoors or outdoors, as exposure to sunlight, moisture, and abrasion can affect longevity. If you need increased durability-such as for outdoor installations-select a spray paint type with the right protective topcoat. Working closely with MyPerfectColor to specify both the paint and any recommended clear coats helps achieve lasting results for your intended environment.

How can I get help selecting the best paint type for PMS 119 C?

If you are unsure which paint type is best for your PMS 119 C project, contact MyPerfectColor with information about your substrate, application method, exposure environment, and desired finish. Our team will recommend the most suitable format, such as spray paint, epoxy, or house paint, to help you achieve your brand goals and visual standards. This ensures a correct order and supports consistent brand presentation.

How do different finishes affect the appearance of PMS 119 C in real-world use?

The finish or sheen you select for PMS 119 C can noticeably affect how the color is seen in your brand or display project. Matte and low-gloss finishes tend to intensify the earthy brown-green undertones and can amplify the muted look of this dark yellow-olive. Gloss or satin finishes may slightly brighten the color and make it appear more uniform under varied lighting. Always review a painted sample in your lighting and finish choice to confirm it meets your visual requirements.

When is a primer needed before applying PMS 119 C paint?

Using a primer before applying PMS 119 C is recommended when working with bare, porous, or non-uniform substrates, such as unfinished wood, metal, plastic, or surfaces with previous coatings of uncertain quality. The need for primer also depends on your chosen paint type and the intended durability. Proper priming promotes even coverage and helps achieve the target color standard. If you are not sure what primer to use, contact MyPerfectColor for substrate-specific recommendations before ordering.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 119 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
