Pantone™ PMS 2272 U

It is important to understand that PMS 2272 U is a communication standard, not a paint formula. Any physical paint reproduction is an interpretation of the Pantone reference, and results can vary by material, finish, and lighting. For high-visibility brand work, reviewing a physical sample before full production is recommended.

Pantone PMS 2272 U is a licensed color standard. Licensed reproduction means the color is matched using authorized Pantone references and controlled processes rather than guesswork or unofficial conversions.

This matters for brand-facing projects where visual consistency is critical. An unlicensed or approximate match can drift in hue or saturation, especially on vivid colors like PMS 2272 U, increasing the risk of brand approval issues once the paint is applied.

Whether a primer is needed for Pantone PMS 2272 U depends on the paint type, the substrate, and the exposure conditions. Bare, porous, or uneven surfaces typically benefit from a primer to improve adhesion and color uniformity.

Using an appropriate primer can also reduce the number of topcoats needed and help the final color appear more consistent. If you are unsure, confirming primer requirements for your specific surface before ordering can prevent coverage issues.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
