Pantone™ PMS 7494 U

PMS 7494 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a visual reference to communicate a specific brand color target. It is not a paint formula or finish specification. When you order a PMS 7494 U match, the goal is to visually align with the Pantone standard so displays, signage, and brand elements appear consistent across different vendors and materials.

Because PMS colors are a communication standard, appearance should be evaluated on the actual substrate and under expected lighting when brand approval or consistency is critical.

When applying PMS 7494 U across large surfaces, plan for even, consistent application. Use uniform spray technique, overlap passes consistently, and allow proper flash time between coats.

Pantone colors can require additional coats to achieve even hide, especially on large panels or displays. Applying test panels first helps confirm coverage and appearance before committing to the full project.

Yes. PMS 7494 U can appear noticeably different when applied in different sheens, even if the color target is the same. Higher gloss finishes tend to look brighter and more saturated, while matte finishes can appear softer or lighter.

Because Pantone references are visual standards, always compare samples with the same finish you plan to use for the final application to avoid surprises.

When applying PMS 7494 U to metal or existing powder-coated parts, surface preparation matters. Clean and properly scuff the surface to promote adhesion and even appearance.

Existing coatings, substrate color, and gloss level can influence how the Pantone match is perceived. For brand-facing components, it is recommended to evaluate a sample on the actual substrate before full production.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
