PMS 7426 U is a Pantone PMS color defined by its dark appearance and saturated red character. It presents a controlled, serious visual tone that aligns with brand and marketing contexts requiring strong presence without high brightness.
The color appears dark with a low Light Reflectance Value (LRV 10.66) and reads as cool-leaning within the red family. Its high saturation and deep red undertone give it noticeable visual intensity, which can shift subtly depending on lighting conditions.
PMS 7426 U performs well in brand-facing displays, signage, and fabricated components where visual depth is a priority. Due to its saturation and darkness, achieving uniform coverage may require additional coats and careful surface preparation, and sampling under actual lighting can help verify the final appearance.
Similar colors:
PMS 7425 U: slightly lighter and warmer, with less visual depth.
PMS 7427 U: darker and more subdued, with a heavier, more muted appearance.
PMS 201 U: brighter and more classic in character, with higher perceived red clarity.

Yes. PMS 7426 U is commonly used for prototypes and concept models where visual alignment to a brand standard is the primary goal. Pantone PMS colors function as color communication targets, making them well suited for mockups, display elements, and early-stage product models.
For best results, evaluate the color on the actual substrate and finish you plan to use, and review it under the lighting where the prototype will be seen. This helps confirm that the visual appearance meets brand expectations before broader production.
Proper surface preparation is important for consistent results with PMS 7426 U. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oils, or residues. Degreasing is recommended if the surface has been handled or exposed to contaminants.
Light scuffing can improve adhesion on smooth substrates, followed by wiping away sanding residue. Always apply a small test area first to confirm adhesion, coverage, and appearance before proceeding with the full application.
PMS 7426 U defines a color target only. It does not specify the original coating formula, sheen, film build, or substrate conditions of an existing finish. Because of this, a Pantone match cannot reliably blend into or disappear within an aged or previously applied coating.
Differences in surface texture, gloss, and lighting can make even a close Pantone match appear visibly different. For these reasons, Pantone PMS colors are best used for new, brand-facing applications rather than touch-up situations.
Paint matched to PMS 7426 U is made to order. Typical production lead time depends on the product format selected, order size, and current production volume.
Because Pantone colors are custom matched, they are not pulled from pre-mixed inventory. Planning ahead is recommended, especially for time-sensitive marketing, display, or prototyping schedules.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 7426 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7426 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
