Pantone™ PMS 808 U

Pantone PMS 808 U spray paint is produced to visually match the Pantone reference color, not to meet a specific durability or performance standard.

Actual durability depends on surface preparation, the paint system selected, and the environment where it will be used. Proper cleaning and priming improve adhesion, while exposure to abrasion, handling, UV light, or weather can affect longevity.

If PMS 808 U will be used for displays, signage, or brand installations, choose the paint type and any optional clear coat based on the expected exposure conditions rather than assuming all spray paints perform the same.

Sheen affects how Pantone PMS 808 U is perceived, even when the color match is correct. Higher gloss sheens reflect more light and can make the color appear brighter or more saturated, while matte or low-sheen finishes reduce reflection and can appear slightly softer.

Select sheen based on viewing distance, lighting, and the surface being coated. For close-up viewing or uneven substrates, lower sheen can help minimize visual variation. For high-visibility brand elements viewed at a distance, higher sheen may provide more visual impact.

Pantone PMS 808 U is a color reference, but its appearance can change across different materials. Factors like surface texture, absorption, and reflectivity influence how the color is seen once applied.

Smooth, non-porous surfaces may appear brighter or more saturated, while porous or textured substrates can reduce apparent intensity. Because of this, evaluating PMS 808 U on each actual material used in the project is recommended before final production.

Maintaining uniform appearance with Pantone PMS 808 U over large areas requires consistent application technique. Use the same spray distance, overlap pattern, and coat thickness across the entire surface.

Highly saturated Pantone colors may require additional coats to achieve even hide. Plan full, continuous passes and avoid stopping mid-panel, as uneven build can cause visible patchiness or striping.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
