Pantone™ PMS 697 U

PMS 697 U is a Pantone PMS reference, so it defines a color target rather than a finished appearance. For pop-ups and retail environments, evaluate a physical sample under the actual lighting where it will be installed. Lighting type and intensity can shift how the color reads, especially across large surfaces.

Confirm the substrate and coating format early, then review a sample panel or sprayed part for coverage, uniformity, and visual consistency. This helps avoid surprises during installation and supports brand approval before producing larger quantities.

Sampling PMS 697 U is recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or any application that requires formal brand approval. A sample allows you to confirm the visual match under your lighting and on your specific substrate.

Sampling is also important when the color will appear across multiple materials or finishes. Reviewing a sample first reduces brand risk and helps ensure the approved appearance is carried through to full production.

PMS 697 U is a color communication standard, not a specification for sheen, substrate, or coating process. Existing finishes often include variables like gloss level, surface texture, and aging that Pantone PMS does not define.

Because of these uncontrolled factors, using PMS 697 U as a touch-up reference can result in visible differences. Pantone PMS colors are best used for new, brand-facing applications where the Pantone reference is the intended target.

Sheen has a direct impact on how PMS 697 U is perceived. Higher sheens can make the color appear brighter and more saturated, while lower sheens can make it look softer or darker under the same lighting.

When choosing a sheen, consider viewing distance, lighting conditions, and the substrate. If visual accuracy is critical, review a sample of PMS 697 U in the selected sheen to confirm it aligns with brand expectations before ordering production quantities.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 697 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
