PMS 663 U is a Pantone PMS color defined within the Pantone Matching System for consistent color communication. It appears as a pale lavender-gray with a calm, airy character that remains visually quiet and neutral-leaning in most settings.
The color has a high light reflectance value of 70.03, placing it firmly in the light range. It reads cool with a gentle violet influence, low saturation, and a subtle lavender-gray undertone that can shift slightly cooler depending on lighting.
PMS 663 U performs best on smooth, well-prepared surfaces where uniform priming helps prevent show-through or uneven absorption. Its soft appearance is typically more consistent in matte or low-sheen finishes, while glossier finishes may reveal surface texture.
Similar colors:
Pantone 664 U: slightly darker and cooler, with a more noticeable lavender presence.
Pantone 665 U: darker and more neutral, with reduced violet influence.
Pantone 531 U: cooler and cleaner, with less gray softness.

Yes, PMS 663 U is commonly used as a brand-standard color target for signs, displays, and exhibit elements where visual consistency matters. It functions as a reference color rather than a paint formula, so the goal is to visually match PMS 663 U on the actual substrate being used. Because materials like metal, plastic, wood, or composite panels can change how the color appears, producing and approving a physical sample is strongly recommended before full fabrication.
When matching PMS 663 U on plastics, adhesion is often the main risk. Different plastics accept coatings differently, and some require specific primers or surface preparation steps to ensure proper bonding. A Pantone-matched color can look correct but still fail if adhesion is not addressed. Always test the PMS 663 U match on the exact plastic material and preparation process before committing to production.
Compare PMS 663 U samples under consistent lighting and on the same type of substrate used in the final application. Allow the coating to fully dry and cure before judging the color, as appearance can shift during drying. Differences in sheen or surface texture can also affect perception, so approvals should be based on finished samples rather than wet paint or mixed materials.
If you are unsure which paint format or coating type to use for PMS 663 U, provide details about your substrate, environment, exposure conditions, and finish expectations. This information helps determine whether spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, epoxy, urethane, or interior or exterior housepaint is appropriate. Getting guidance before ordering reduces the risk of choosing a product that does not meet your project requirements.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 663 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 663 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
