PMS 623 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual reference in brand, display, and design applications. It conveys a subdued, balanced, calm, professional, and restrained vibe that reads clearly without strong visual push.
The color appears mid-light with an LRV of 46.72 and leans cool with a soft blue-green tendency. It shows low to moderate saturation and carries a gray-softened undertone that reduces brightness and contrast.
The color can show subtle variation across sheen levels, especially in smoother or higher-gloss finishes.
PMS 623 U works well in brand environments that require visual calm and consistency rather than attention-grabbing color. Because of its muted saturation, it is generally forgiving, but uneven substrates or mixed surface textures can still influence how flat or even it appears.
Testing on the actual surface and finish helps confirm the intended balance compared to lighter or more chromatic green-blues.
Similar colors:
PMS 622 U: slightly lighter and softer, with less visual depth.
PMS 624 U: darker and more subdued, with increased gray influence.
PMS 621 U: cooler and slightly more blue-leaning, with reduced green character.

PMS 623 U is a Pantone reference color, not a finish specification. The finish you choose can noticeably change how this color is perceived. Gloss finishes tend to make PMS 623 U appear brighter and more saturated because they reflect more light. Satin or semi-gloss finishes usually look slightly softer and more controlled. Matte finishes can reduce perceived brightness and make the color appear flatter or darker. For brand-facing applications, it is important to evaluate PMS 623 U in the actual finish and lighting where it will be used.
When applying PMS 623 U in spray paint, multiple light coats generally produce more consistent color and surface appearance than one heavy coat. Light passes help the color build evenly and reduce the risk of runs or uneven sheen. Allow each coat to flash off and become tack-free before applying the next one. This approach improves visual uniformity, which is especially important for brand and display work.
PMS 623 U is part of the Pantone Matching System, which is a licensed color standard. MyPerfectColor is authorized to reproduce Pantone PMS colors, meaning the paint is matched to the official Pantone reference rather than estimated visually or derived from an unverified formula. This matters when brand accuracy is required, because licensed reproduction helps ensure PMS 623 U aligns with established Pantone color expectations across vendors and applications.
Ordering paint matched to PMS 623 U is appropriate when the goal is brand color reproduction. However, if you need touch-up-grade accuracy to an existing painted or manufactured item, a Pantone match alone may not be sufficient. Real-world materials age, fade, and vary by substrate and process. In those cases, sending a physical part for matching is the more reliable path. Pantone PMS colors are intended as visual brand standards, not as repair or touch-up references.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 623 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
