PMS 557 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a visual reference standard rather than a paint formula. It conveys a subdued, balanced vibe that reads as calm, reserved, natural, and professional.
The color shows a mid-range lightness with an LRV of 45.18 and leans cool between green and blue. Its low saturation gives it a soft, muted appearance with a subtle green-blue undertone that can shift with lighting.
This color works well in brand environments that need restraint and consistency without strong visual dominance. Careful surface preparation and consistent application help maintain uniformity, and finish selection can influence how the undertone is perceived under different lighting.
Similar colors:
PMS 556 U: darker and slightly more subdued, with increased visual weight.
PMS 557 C: slightly cleaner and more defined, with a cooler cast.
PMS 558 U: lighter and more open, with reduced depth and presence.

Pantone PMS 557 U is a defined visual color target, not a paint formula. Any paint version is a visual match made to align as closely as possible with the Pantone reference. MyPerfectColor focuses on producing a close, brand-appropriate match, but some variation is normal due to differences in paint chemistry, finish, substrate, and lighting.
Because perception changes with sheen and environment, you should expect a visually accurate match rather than an identical reproduction of the Pantone book chip under all conditions. This is standard when translating Pantone PMS colors into paint.
Yes. For Pantone PMS 557 U, ordering a sample is recommended when the color is part of a brand approval or signoff workflow. A sample lets you evaluate the color on your actual substrate, with your selected finish, and under the installed lighting where it will be seen.
This step helps confirm visual acceptance before committing to larger quantities, especially for high-visibility displays, exhibits, or multi-part builds.
Pantone PMS 557 U is used as a brand experience color, meaning it defines a consistent visual target across marketing, displays, and branded environments. The Pantone code communicates the intended color clearly between designers, fabricators, and vendors.
When ordered as paint, PMS 557 U serves as the reference for visual alignment rather than a guarantee of identical appearance across every material. Consistency is achieved by evaluating samples and approving the color in context.
The right paint type for Pantone PMS 557 U depends on where and how the color will be used. Factors include the substrate, whether the application is indoor or outdoor, the desired sheen, and handling or exposure conditions.
If you are unsure, contact MyPerfectColor with details about your project. Providing the surface material, environment, and finish goals allows the team to recommend a paint format that supports accurate brand color results.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 557 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 557 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
