PMS 537 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a specification reference for consistent color matching across materials. It conveys a restrained, cool, and professional vibe with a soft, desaturated appearance that reads clean and controlled rather than vivid.
The color appears light to mid-light, with an LRV of 56.7, and shows a cool tendency leaning toward blue with a subtle violet influence. Its low chroma creates a muted blue-gray look, and higher-sheen finishes can make the cool character appear more pronounced.
PMS 537 U works well where a neutral-cool background is needed to support graphics, typography, or branded elements without visual dominance. Its lighter value benefits from careful surface preparation and even application, particularly under cool or directional lighting, and it reads calmer than more saturated blues.
Similar colors:
PMS 538 U: lighter and more neutral, with less blue presence.
PMS 536 U: darker and slightly stronger, with increased blue depth.
PMS 7543 U: more neutral and grayer, with reduced blue character.

PMS 537 U is a Pantone reference color, not a paint formula. Your Pantone book is the color target, but the printed swatch and a painted surface will not look identical. Paint appearance changes with sheen, film thickness, and the material being coated.
When evaluating a PMS 537 U match, compare under consistent lighting and view angle, and expect some visual difference versus the book. For brand-critical projects, apply a sample of the PMS 537 U paint on the actual substrate and review it in the real environment before approving production.
PMS 537 U can be produced in paint formats that are used on plastics, but plastics vary widely in surface energy and adhesion behavior. Some plastics require specific surface preparation or a compatible primer to achieve reliable adhesion.
Before committing to a full run, test the PMS 537 U paint on the exact plastic or coated surface you plan to use. This confirms adhesion, appearance, and durability under your handling and display conditions.
No. PMS 537 U is part of the Pantone Matching System, which is a separate color standard from other paint brand collections. Most paint brands have their own proprietary palettes, and cross-references are rarely exact.
For projects where PMS 537 U is specified by brand standards, ordering a Pantone-matched paint is the most reliable way to target that color. Visual comparisons to other brand colors should always be confirmed with physical samples.
A standard PMS 537 U match is appropriate when the Pantone reference itself is the color target, such as for branded displays, signage, exhibits, prototypes, and marketing installations. In these cases, visual alignment to the Pantone standard is the primary requirement.
If the project is large, highly visible, or uses multiple substrates, consider reviewing a PMS 537 U sample on each material under installed lighting before final approval. This helps manage expectations for coverage, finish, and perceived color.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 537 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 537 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
