PMS 534 U is a Pantone Matching System color defined as a deep navy blue with a subdued, formal character. It conveys seriousness, stability, restraint, and low visual noise, making it suitable for brand applications that require consistency and minimal distraction.
The color appears very dark, with a low Light Reflectance Value of 5.1. It reads cool and moderately saturated, with a subtle violet undertone that distinguishes it from more neutral navy tones.
This color works well for large background fields, signage panels, and branded structures where glare control and visual authority are important. Its depth absorbs light and may require additional coats for uniform coverage, particularly over high-contrast surfaces, and careful preparation helps ensure an even result.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.
Similar colors:
PMS 534 C: slightly cleaner and more defined, with a crisper navy appearance.
PMS 533 U: darker and more subdued, with reduced blue clarity.
PMS 535 U: lighter and more open, with less visual weight.

PMS 534 U is a Pantone reference color, and its appearance can shift depending on the light source and surroundings. Daylight, LED, fluorescent, and warm interior lighting can each change how dark or saturated the color appears.
For brand-critical work, view a sample of PMS 534 U under the same lighting where it will be installed. This helps avoid surprises caused by metamerism, where two samples match under one light but differ under another.
For approval workflows, order a small sample of PMS 534 U in the exact product type and sheen you plan to use. Apply it to the real substrate whenever possible, since surface texture and absorbency affect appearance.
Evaluate the sample under installed lighting and get signoff before placing a larger order. This step reduces risk when PMS 534 U is used on high-visibility brand elements.
To maintain consistency with PMS 534 U, reorder the same product type, sheen, and application method each time. Changes in format or finish can alter how the color is perceived even if the Pantone target is the same.
Keep an approved reference sample from your first run and compare future batches to it under the same lighting. Using the same approval process helps keep brand color expectations aligned.
Select the paint type for PMS 534 U based on where it will be used and the exposure it will face. Interior applications prioritize visual accuracy under controlled lighting, while exterior uses require products designed for weather and UV exposure.
Start by deciding on the environment, then sample PMS 534 U in the appropriate interior or exterior product to confirm appearance before committing to a full order.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 534 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 534 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
