PMS 483 U is a Pantone PMS color specified within the Pantone Matching System for consistent color communication. It presents a heavy, earthy, and restrained appearance that supports serious, brand-driven environments without visual distraction.
The color is very dark, with a low Light Reflectance Value of 5.1, and leans warm due to subtle red-orange undertones. It maintains moderate saturation, giving it richness without pronounced brightness, and its depth can make surface variations more noticeable in higher-sheen finishes.
PMS 483 U performs well in applications that require a subdued but deliberate brown. Careful surface preparation and even application help avoid visible inconsistencies, and evaluating the color under installed lighting is recommended since brighter light can emphasize its warmth and depth.

Surface texture changes how light reflects off the paint, which can shift how PMS 483 U is perceived. Smooth substrates tend to look darker and more saturated because they reflect light evenly. Textured or porous surfaces introduce shadowing and scatter light, which can make the same PMS 483 U paint appear lighter, duller, or less uniform.
If visual accuracy matters, evaluate PMS 483 U on the actual substrate and texture you plan to use, not just on a smooth sample card.
Pantone PMS 483 U paint is custom matched and made to order based on the Pantone reference. Because of this, it is important to confirm the product format, sheen, and quantity before ordering. Changes after production are difficult and may require placing a new order.
If this is your first time using PMS 483 U or the project has strict brand requirements, ordering a small sample first can help reduce risk before committing to a larger build.
Pantone PMS colors like PMS 483 U are licensed color standards. Licensed reproduction ensures the color is matched against the official Pantone reference rather than an estimated or visual approximation.
This matters for brand-facing work where consistency across vendors, materials, and projects is required. An authorized Pantone match helps keep PMS 483 U aligned with brand standards across marketing and display applications.
For brand approval workflows, start by ordering a small sample of PMS 483 U in the same product type and sheen planned for production. Apply it to the actual substrate and evaluate it under the installed lighting conditions.
Review the sample with stakeholders before scaling up. This step helps confirm appearance, coverage, and overall acceptance of PMS 483 U before committing to full production quantities.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 483 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
