Pantone™ PMS 476 U

Pantone PMS 476 U is a deep, saturated Pantone color with a low LRV of about 4. This means it absorbs a lot of light and can show unevenness if coverage is thin.

When applied over light or mixed substrates, you should expect to use multiple coats to achieve uniform color and depth. Using a consistent application method and allowing proper dry time between coats helps avoid streaking or patchiness. For high-visibility brand applications, testing coverage on your actual substrate before full production is recommended.

A standard Pantone PMS 476 U match is appropriate when the Pantone reference itself is the color target. This is common for brand-facing uses such as signage, displays, exhibits, prototypes, and marketing installations.

In these scenarios, visual alignment to the Pantone guide matters more than matching an existing painted surface. If the project requires brand consistency rather than substrate-specific repair, a standard PMS 476 U match is typically the correct approach.

You should always order using the full Pantone code, including the suffix. In this case, PMS 476 U specifies both the color number and the uncoated (U) reference.

Different Pantone series and suffixes represent different color targets, even when the number is similar. Ordering by the exact code PMS 476 U helps ensure the paint is matched to the correct Pantone standard and avoids receiving the wrong color.

The finish you choose will affect how PMS 476 U is perceived. A gloss finish tends to increase visual depth and saturation but can introduce glare under strong lighting. A matte finish reduces reflections and glare but may appear slightly softer or darker.

For close-viewed displays or environments with controlled lighting, matte can provide a more consistent look. For elements viewed from a distance where visual punch is important, gloss may better preserve the richness of the Pantone color. Consider lighting, viewing distance, and brand expectations when deciding.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
