PMS 476 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, which is widely used for standardized brand and product color specification. This color presents as a dark, neutral-to-warm brown with a subtle, classic presence. Its vibe is grounded, stable, mature, understated, and professional. The color’s low reflectance value makes it suitable for applications where a strong sense of solidity or reduced visual noise is required.

- PMS 476 C is very dark in appearance, with an LRV of 4.1. - The color shows a neutral-to-warm tendency due to its hue placement. - PMS 476 C exhibits low chroma, resulting in a muted, earthy saturation. - This color has brown undertones, contributing to a subdued, stable aesthetic. - The finish can affect perceived depth; higher-gloss finishes may introduce slight warmth or richness, while matte treatments emphasize its darkness.

PMS 476 C is an effective choice for brand or display projects requiring a solid, less obtrusive background or accent. It performs best where consistent, dense color coverage is needed to communicate reliability or formality. Care should be taken with lighting, as low ambient light can cause the color to read nearly black; brighter lighting may reveal more of the brown undertone. Compared to similar colors, PMS 476 C will appear more muted and dark, and less saturated or vivid.

Similar colors:
PMS 4625 C: Slightly lighter and warmer, offering more visible brown warmth.

PMS 4975 C: Even darker and less chromatic, approaching a near-black appearance.

PMS 440 C: Cooler and more gray, with a more neutral appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 476 C

How is Pantone PMS 476 C used to create a consistent brand experience?

Pantone PMS 476 C is specified as a consistent color standard for logos, displays, and branded environments. By using PMS 476 C across different materials and formats, brands ensure that their visual identity remains recognizable and unified regardless of location or application. This helps communicate reliability and reinforces brand recognition in marketing, presentations, and public-facing installations. Always specify the exact PMS code to maintain alignment with brand guidelines and avoid mismatched colors that could undermine visual consistency.

What should I know about shipping and transit times for Pantone PMS 476 C paint orders?

Transit times for Pantone PMS 476 C paint depend on your shipping address and the method you select during checkout. Production and shipping schedules may also be impacted by current order volume or other factors. To avoid deadline issues, it is important to place orders early and allow extra time for delivery, especially for time-sensitive marketing or brand installations. If you have a firm deadline, contact customer service to discuss available shipping options and expected delivery windows.

Do I need to take any special steps for proper coverage when using Pantone PMS 476 C paint?

Pantone PMS 476 C is a very dark and muted brown, which generally provides good hide compared to highly saturated or bright colors. However, for best results, surface preparation and appropriate priming are important, especially when painting over light colors or uneven surfaces. Applying multiple thin coats can help achieve uniform color and a professional appearance. Always review application instructions for the specific paint format you select to ensure coverage meets brand standards.

What product formats are available for Pantone PMS 476 C paint, and how do I choose the right one?

Pantone PMS 476 C is available as custom spray paint and in other formats including paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and additional options such as epoxy and urethane coatings where offered. The right format depends on your application method and project requirements. Spray paint is commonly chosen for branding, displays, and prototypes that need uniform coverage over large surfaces or complex shapes. Paint pens and brush-in-cap bottles are better for detail work or small display elements. Always verify the format fits your substrate and intended use for brand-facing projects.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 476 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 476 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 476 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
