When approving PMS 470 U, compare samples under the same lighting conditions where the final piece will be used whenever possible. View all samples on the same substrate and allow the paint to fully dry and cure before making a judgment. Freshly applied coatings can look darker or glossier until they stabilize, which can affect perceived accuracy.

For consistent results, avoid comparing a painted sample directly to a printed Pantone book under mixed lighting. The Pantone reference defines the color target, but material, lighting, and finish all influence how PMS 470 U will appear in real-world applications.

PMS 470 U paint is custom made to order, so it is important to confirm the correct color code, product type, and sheen before purchasing. Custom matched Pantone colors are produced specifically for your order and are not easily revised after production.

If PMS 470 U is being used for a high-visibility or brand-critical application, consider ordering a sample or small quantity first. This allows you to evaluate color appearance on your actual substrate and under your lighting conditions before committing to a larger order.

The finish you choose can noticeably change how PMS 470 U is perceived. Glossier finishes tend to reflect more light, which can make the color appear deeper and more saturated. Matte or flat finishes absorb more light and may appear slightly softer or less intense.

Because PMS 470 U is evaluated visually, sheen should be considered part of the approval process. Always review the color in the same finish that will be used in the final application to avoid unexpected differences.

Coverage for a spray can of PMS 470 U depends on surface texture, application technique, and the number of coats required. Smooth, primed surfaces will cover more efficiently than rough or porous materials.

For brand-facing work, plan for multiple light coats to achieve even color and hide. When estimating quantity, it is safer to allow extra material rather than trying to stretch coverage, especially for saturated Pantone colors where uniform appearance is critical.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
