Pantone™ PMS 447 U

Paint matched to Pantone PMS 447 U does not have a single safety or VOC profile on its own. Safety handling, ventilation needs, and VOC content depend on the specific paint product and format you choose, such as spray paint, brush-applied coatings, or other systems.

Before ordering or using PMS 447 U paint, review the Safety Data Sheet for the exact product you select. Follow the manufacturer instructions for ventilation, personal protective equipment, drying time, and disposal. These steps are especially important for indoor marketing installations or enclosed fabrication spaces.

Whether a primer is needed for Pantone PMS 447 U depends on the paint type, the substrate, and the exposure conditions. Smooth, sealed, or previously coated surfaces may accept the color directly, while raw or porous substrates often benefit from a compatible primer.

Using a primer can improve adhesion, color uniformity, and coverage, especially on materials like bare wood, metal, plastics, or composite display panels. For best results, confirm primer recommendations for the specific paint product and substrate you are using.

When approving Pantone PMS 447 U, compare samples under consistent lighting conditions and on the same or very similar substrates. Differences in lighting temperature, surface texture, and sheen can noticeably change how the color appears.

Allow paint samples to fully dry and cure before making a final judgment. If possible, view the sample next to an official Pantone reference under controlled lighting to reduce surprises during production or installation.

A standard Pantone PMS 447 U match is appropriate when the Pantone PMS reference is the defined color target. This is common for brand-facing displays, signage, exhibits, prototypes, and marketing installations where visual alignment to the Pantone standard matters most.

If the project involves large, high-visibility installations or multiple substrates, ordering samples for review is recommended before full production. This helps confirm appearance under real lighting and surface conditions while staying aligned with the Pantone PMS standard.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
