Color summary PMS 5535 U is a Pantone PMS color commonly specified in brand and identity systems. It presents as deep, restrained, grounded, serious, and natural, with a muted character that favors stability over brightness.
Color characteristics This color appears very dark, with an LRV of 3.52, giving it strong visual weight. It reads as cool with a blue-green undertone and maintains low to moderate saturation, avoiding vivid intensity.
Practical application This color performs best in controlled lighting where depth and contrast are intentional. Because of its low lightness, careful surface preparation and consistent application can help reduce visible variation compared to lighter greens.
Common uses PMS 5535 U is frequently specified for brand-facing signage, environmental graphics, and retail fixtures where a serious, established tone is desired. Its subdued character supports designs that prioritize authority and longevity over brightness.
Real-world associations The following examples reflect commonly cited branding associations and are based on publicly referenced design usage; they are illustrative, not exhaustive or exclusive. Pantone PMS 5535 U is a licensed color standard, not a generic color name. Licensed reproduction means the paint is matched to the official Pantone PMS reference under authorization, rather than approximated visually or converted from another system.
This matters for brand and display work because unlicensed matches can drift in hue, chroma, or lightness, especially across different paint types and finishes. Ordering a licensed reproduction reduces approval risk when PMS 5535 U is specified in brand standards or marketing guidelines.
As a general planning estimate, one standard spray can of Pantone PMS 5535 U covers about 12 square feet per coat. Actual coverage can vary based on spray technique, surface texture, absorption, and the number of coats needed for uniform color.
Darker and more saturated Pantone colors may require additional coats for consistent hide. For critical brand-facing work, it is recommended to test on the actual substrate and order extra cans to account for overlap, waste, and coverage variation.
Pantone PMS 5535 U can be matched into paint for plastic surfaces, but plastics vary widely in how well they accept coatings. Many plastics and low-surface-energy materials require a specific adhesion promoter or primer before applying color.
Because adhesion and appearance can change by plastic type, testing the full system on the actual material is strongly recommended before production. This helps confirm both color appearance and durability when PMS 5535 U is used on plastics or composites.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5535 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
