Pantone™ PMS 427 U

Pantone PMS 427 U is a visual color target, not a finish specification. The sheen you choose will change how the color is perceived.

Gloss finishes reflect more light, which can make PMS 427 U appear slightly lighter and more crisp. Satin or semi-gloss finishes tend to balance reflectivity and depth. Matte finishes absorb more light, which can make the same color appear darker or more muted.

For brand-facing work, evaluate PMS 427 U in the actual finish and lighting where it will be seen, since sheen alone can shift visual perception even when the color match is accurate.

Pantone PMS 427 U is available as custom-matched paint in multiple formats used for branding and display applications. Common options include custom spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles. Other coatings such as epoxy, urethane, or interior or exterior housepaint may be available depending on the project.

Choosing the right format depends on how the color will be applied, the size of the surface, and the level of finish control needed. Spray paint is often used for uniform coverage on displays, while small-format options are useful for detailed components or prototypes.

Pantone PMS 427 U is matched visually to the Pantone reference, but materials can influence how that color appears. Surface texture, absorption, and reflectivity all affect perceived color.

Smooth, sealed substrates usually show PMS 427 U closer to the reference, while porous or textured materials may darken or dull the appearance. Metals, plastics, wood, and composites can each shift the look slightly even with the same paint.

For multi-material projects, it is best to evaluate PMS 427 U on each actual substrate used in the final build before full production.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 427 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
