Pantone™ PMS 336 U

PMS 336 U is a Pantone PMS reference, not a paint formula. For prototypes and concept models, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone standard, not functional performance. Choose a format that fits your build process, such as spray paint for even coverage on small parts or brush-applied paint for detail areas.

Plan to evaluate a sample on the actual substrate used in the prototype. Check color appearance under the same lighting the model will be reviewed in, since lighting can change how PMS 336 U is perceived. If brand approval is required, review the painted sample against a Pantone guide before committing to full prototype production.

Paint matched to PMS 336 U is made to order. Production lead time depends on the product type selected, such as spray paint versus other paint formats, and current production volume.

Because this is a custom color match, it is not pulled from shelf stock. If your project has a fixed deadline, plan for production time plus shipping and consider ordering samples early to avoid schedule risk.

PMS 336 U can be used for pop-ups and retail brand environments where visual brand alignment is required. The Pantone PMS standard is commonly used for displays, signage, and branded surfaces in these settings.

Before large installations, test the color on the actual materials and view it under installed lighting. Lighting type and surface finish can significantly affect how PMS 336 U appears. Sampling helps confirm that the color meets brand expectations before full production.

Like many saturated Pantone colors, PMS 336 U may require additional coats to achieve uniform coverage, especially on contrasting or porous substrates. Hide and coverage are influenced by the surface color, texture, and the paint format used.

Using a compatible undercoat can help improve uniformity and reduce the number of finish coats needed. Always test your full system, including undercoat and topcoat, on the actual substrate to confirm coverage expectations before ordering larger quantities.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
