PMS 329 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a standardized visual target within the Pantone Matching System. It conveys a grounded, authoritative, cool, saturated, and controlled visual character suited to brand-driven environments.

The color appears very dark, with a low Light Reflectance Value of 8.01, and reads cool with a blue-forward green tendency. Its high saturation gives it strong visual density, while a subtle blue undertone deepens its appearance under neutral or cool lighting.

This color works well in branded displays, signage, and components where depth and contrast are needed. Because of its low lightness, careful surface preparation and consistent application can help achieve an even appearance, and lower-sheen finishes may reduce visible imperfections.

Similar colors:
PMS 328 U: slightly lighter and more open, with reduced visual depth.
PMS 330 U: darker and more muted, with less chromatic intensity.
PMS 323 U: cooler and less saturated, with a softer green presence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 329 U

Why does Pantone PMS 329 U look different on metal, plastic, and wood?

Pantone PMS 329 U is a visual color standard, not a material-specific paint formula. When it is applied to different substrates, factors like surface texture, absorption, and reflectivity can change how the color appears.

For example, a smooth metal panel may reflect more light and appear slightly brighter, while a porous wood or textured plastic may absorb more paint and look darker or less saturated. For brand-critical projects, it is best to evaluate PMS 329 U on the actual material used in the final build before approving a full production run.

Which sheen should I choose for Pantone PMS 329 U spray paint?

Sheen has a direct impact on how Pantone PMS 329 U is perceived. Gloss finishes reflect more light and can make the color appear deeper and more vivid, while satin or matte finishes scatter light and may look slightly softer or darker.

When choosing a sheen, consider viewing distance, lighting, and the substrate. If the color will be seen up close under strong lighting, sheen differences will be more noticeable. For large brand elements, confirm the sheen choice with a test sample of PMS 329 U to avoid surprises after application.

What durability should I expect from Pantone PMS 329 U spray paint?

The durability of Pantone PMS 329 U spray paint depends on surface preparation, the paint system selected, and the environment where it is used. Proper cleaning, priming, and compatible topcoats can significantly affect performance.

Spray paint matched to PMS 329 U is commonly used for brand displays, signage, and marketing installations. If the project will face frequent handling, outdoor exposure, or extended use, choose a paint type and protective topcoat appropriate for those conditions and test on the intended substrate.

How can I maintain uniform color when applying Pantone PMS 329 U over a large area?

To keep Pantone PMS 329 U looking uniform across large surfaces, consistent application technique is critical. Plan full, even coats and avoid stopping and restarting in visible areas, which can create patchiness or banding.

Highly saturated Pantone colors like PMS 329 U may require additional coats for even coverage. Applying the same number of coats across the entire area and allowing proper flash time between coats helps maintain a consistent, brand-accurate appearance.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 329 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 329 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 329 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 329 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 329 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
