When ordering PMS 3115 U paint, always specify the full code including the suffix. Ordering by name alone or omitting the U can result in a different color target being matched. Pantone codes communicate the visual color standard, not a specific paint formula or finish.

Yes, PMS 3115 U can be visually matched on metal parts, including previously powder-coated surfaces, but preparation and evaluation matter. Existing coatings, surface texture, and gloss level can all affect how the color appears once applied.

For metal applications, surfaces should be properly cleaned and prepared so the new coating lays down evenly. Because Pantone matches are visual targets, it is strongly recommended to review a physical sample of PMS 3115 U on the actual metal substrate before committing to a full production run.

When using PMS 3115 U in pop-ups or retail environments, plan to evaluate the color under the same lighting where it will be installed. Lighting can significantly change the perceived brightness and saturation of Pantone colors.

For larger or high-visibility brand elements, reviewing a painted sample or test panel is recommended before full deployment. This helps confirm appearance, coverage, and consistency across different materials used in the installation.

The SDS is tied to the specific paint product and chemistry, not to the Pantone color itself. PMS 3115 U defines the color target, but different paint types will have different SDS documents.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
