Pantone™ PMS 244 U

PMS 244 U is a Pantone reference color, and its appearance can shift depending on the light source, intensity, and surrounding colors. Daylight, LED, fluorescent, and halogen lighting can each emphasize different undertones, which may make PMS 244 U appear warmer, cooler, brighter, or more muted.

To reduce surprises, evaluate PMS 244 U under the same lighting where it will be displayed or installed. If the project is high visibility or requires brand approval, viewing a physical sample in the actual environment is recommended before committing to full production.

PMS 244 U can be produced as custom spray paint and, where appropriate, other paint formats such as paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles. The right format depends on how the color will be applied, the size of the area, and the level of finish control needed.

Spray paint is typically chosen for panels, displays, and larger surfaces where even coverage matters. Paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles are better suited for smaller graphics, detail work, or controlled applications. Selecting the correct format upfront helps ensure consistent results and avoids ordering a product that does not fit the application.

PMS 244 U is a visual color standard, not a paint formula. Matching it requires translating the Pantone reference into a specific coating system, substrate, and finish. Bright and saturated Pantone colors like PMS 244 U can be especially sensitive to material, sheen, and application method.

For critical brand applications, reviewing a sample and approving it under real viewing conditions is the best way to confirm acceptance before full use.

Proper surface preparation is essential for consistent appearance when applying PMS 244 U. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oils, or residues that could interfere with adhesion or color uniformity.

Depending on the substrate, light scuffing may help improve adhesion and evenness. Always test the paint on a small, representative area first to confirm coverage and appearance before proceeding with the full application.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
