PMS 243 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a standardized visual reference used to support consistent brand expression. It presents as vivid, contemporary, and expressive, with a clear magenta-purple character suited to brand-forward applications.
The color reads as mid-light, with an LRV of 56.7, and leans cool due to its purple-magenta hue. It shows moderate-to-high saturation and a clean magenta undertone, giving it noticeable presence without appearing fluorescent. In higher-sheen finishes, its intensity can become more pronounced.
PMS 243 U performs well in brand-facing uses where color recognition matters, including signage, displays, and experiential elements. A light or white primer can help support even coverage, particularly over darker surfaces, and evaluating samples under installed lighting can help manage brightness expectations.
Similar colors: PMS 242 U: slightly darker and deeper, with more visual weight.MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone™ PMS 243 U color in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 243 U is a Pantone reference color, and its appearance can shift depending on the light source and viewing environment. Fluorescent, LED, and daylight all have different spectral qualities, which can change how saturation and warmth are perceived.
To avoid surprises, evaluate PMS 243 U under the same lighting where it will be installed or displayed. This is especially important for brand-facing applications, where lighting differences can make a color appear brighter, duller, or slightly shifted compared to expectations.
Proper surface preparation helps PMS 243 U apply evenly and appear consistent. Start by cleaning the surface to remove dust, oils, or residues that could affect adhesion or color uniformity.
Depending on the substrate, light scuffing may be appropriate to promote adhesion. Always test PMS 243 U on a small area or sample piece first to confirm coverage, appearance, and compatibility with the surface before proceeding with full application.
Durability for PMS 243 U spray paint depends on surface preparation, the specific paint type selected, and the environment where it will be used. Properly prepared substrates generally lead to better adhesion and longer-lasting results.
For applications exposed to handling, cleaning, or environmental stress, consider whether a compatible clear topcoat is appropriate. Choose the paint type based on where and how the color will be used, and confirm performance with a sample when durability is critical.
Yes. Ordering a small sample of PMS 243 U is recommended for brand approval workflows and high-visibility projects. A sample allows stakeholders to review the color on the actual substrate and under installed lighting conditions.
Sampling helps confirm visual acceptance before committing to a larger order, reducing the risk of rework if the color appearance, finish, or coverage does not meet expectations.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 243 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 243 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
