Pantone™ PMS 2425 U

PMS 2425 U is a defined Pantone color target, but the finish you choose can change how that color is perceived. Glossier finishes tend to appear darker and more saturated, while matte or flat finishes can look lighter or more muted. This is a visual effect caused by how light reflects from the surface, not a change in the color target itself.

When comparing samples, make sure they use the same sheen and are viewed under similar lighting. Comparing a matte sample to a gloss sample can make PMS 2425 U appear like two different colors, even if both were matched to the same Pantone reference.

Yes. For brand approval workflows, ordering a small sample of PMS 2425 U is strongly recommended before committing to a full production run. A sample lets stakeholders review the color on the actual substrate, in the selected finish, and under the installed lighting conditions.

This step helps confirm visual acceptance and avoids surprises with saturation, coverage, or sheen. Sampling is especially important for high-visibility or permanent installations where formal brand signoff is required.

PMS 2425 U is commonly used as a brand color reference for signs, displays, and exhibit fabrication. In these contexts, the Pantone code acts as the visual standard that fabricators and vendors align to across different materials and components.

Because appearance can vary by substrate and finish, reviewing a sample on the real material is important. This helps ensure PMS 2425 U meets brand expectations once installed and viewed at scale.

Basic surface preparation is important for consistent results with PMS 2425 U. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oils, or residues. Degreasing is recommended where handling or fabrication oils may be present.

On some substrates, light scuffing can help with adhesion, followed by a test spot to confirm appearance and coverage. Always evaluate the prepared surface and sample together to confirm the final look before full application.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
