Pantone™ PMS 207 U

PMS 207 U is a Pantone reference color, not a paint formula. Pantone books are printed standards viewed on paper, while paint is applied to a real substrate with a specific sheen. Because of that, the same PMS 207 U target can look different once it is painted.

When comparing, treat the Pantone book as the visual target, not a promise of an exact visual match in every condition. Sheen, substrate color, texture, and lighting will all influence how PMS 207 U appears. For critical brand work, plan to apply a sample on the actual material and review it under the intended lighting before committing to a full order.

For PMS 207 U spray paint, use multiple light coats rather than trying to cover in one heavy pass. Light coats help the color build evenly and reduce the risk of runs or uneven saturation.

Allow each coat to flash off before applying the next one. Exact timing can vary with temperature, airflow, and substrate, so focus on applying the next coat only after the surface no longer looks wet. This approach helps achieve a more uniform and visually accurate Pantone match.

Because these projects often use different materials, it is important to sample PMS 207 U on the actual substrates being used. This confirms appearance before production and helps avoid surprises when parts are viewed together in the final environment.

PMS 207 U is a vivid, saturated Pantone color. Colors like this often have lower hide than neutral tones, meaning additional coats may be needed to achieve uniform coverage.

Using an appropriate undercoat can improve consistency and reduce the number of color coats required. Planning for extra material and testing coverage on your actual substrate will help ensure PMS 207 U meets brand expectations in the finished application.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
