PMS 1785 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual target for consistent color communication across vendors and materials. It conveys a bold, energetic, assertive, highly visible, and contemporary red character.
The color presents as a mid-to-dark red with an LRV of 25.97 and reads as distinctly warm. It shows very high saturation and strong chroma, with a subtle orange-red undertone that increases visual intensity.
PMS 1785 U performs well in brand-facing displays, signage, and exhibit components where strong color presence is required. Because of its saturation, a light or tinted primer and multiple thin coats can help improve uniformity, and lighting and finish choice can noticeably affect how the color is perceived.
The following examples reflect commonly cited branding associations and are based on publicly referenced design usage; they are illustrative, not exhaustive or exclusive. PMS 1785 U is widely cited in branding literature as closely associated with Coca-Cola red across marketing and promotional materials.

Yes. PMS 1785 U is a highly saturated Pantone color, and surface texture can noticeably affect how it is perceived. Smooth substrates reflect light more evenly, making the color appear cleaner and more vivid. Textured or uneven surfaces create shadows and scattered reflections, which can make the same PMS 1785 U appear darker, less saturated, or inconsistent across the surface.
If visual brand accuracy is critical, it is best to evaluate PMS 1785 U on the actual substrate and texture you plan to use before full production.
Expedited production is often available for PMS 1785 U when timing is critical. Expedited options are presented during checkout when eligible, and they reduce production time compared to standard processing.
If you have a fixed event date, installation window, or approval deadline, contact MyPerfectColor before ordering to confirm current lead times and whether expedited production will meet your schedule.
Yes. PMS 1785 U is commonly used in prototypes and concept models where visual brand alignment matters. Pantone PMS colors are communication standards, so the goal is to achieve a close visual match rather than replicate a manufacturing formula.
For prototype workflows, many teams start with spray paint for speed and uniform appearance, then review the color under expected lighting. If approvals are required, ordering samples and evaluating PMS 1785 U on the actual substrate helps reduce risk before final production.
Sheen selection has a strong impact on how PMS 1785 U is perceived. Higher sheens reflect more light and can make the color appear brighter and more saturated, while lower sheens absorb more light and can slightly mute the color.
Choose sheen based on viewing distance, lighting, and substrate rather than preference alone. If the color will be viewed up close or under strong lighting, confirm the sheen choice with a sample to ensure PMS 1785 U meets brand expectations in its final environment.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1785 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
