PMS 1585 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual target across branding and display applications. It conveys a bold, energetic, attention-forward vibe with strong warmth, high intensity, and a distinctly contemporary presence.
The color presents as a mid-to-deep orange with an LRV of 32.81. It reads clearly warm with very high saturation and minimal undertone, maintaining a clean and vivid appearance.
PMS 1585 U works well in brand-facing displays, signage, and fabricated elements where visual impact and color recognition are priorities. Its high saturation may require additional coats for uniform coverage, and finish choice and lighting can noticeably influence perceived brightness and intensity.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Pantone PMS 1585 U is a color communication standard, not a coating formula or finish specification. It does not define sheen, film build, substrate, or application method. Existing finishes have aging, texture, and lighting variables that Pantone references do not account for.
Because of this, using PMS 1585 U to try to visually blend into an existing surface often leads to noticeable differences, even when the color target is matched closely. Pantone PMS colors are best used when the goal is visual brand alignment for new components, not repair or touch-up of an existing coating.
Pantone PMS 1585 U is a visual color target, not a complete coating specification. It does not define sheen, surface texture, substrate, film build, or aging conditions. Because those factors strongly affect appearance, using PMS 1585 U to address small areas on an existing product often results in a visible difference, even when the color is technically matched.
PMS references are best used when the Pantone color itself is the goal, such as branded displays or concept builds. If the objective is to blend into an existing finish, a physical sample or an OEM reference from the original coating is a more reliable starting point.
The choice between matte and gloss can significantly change how PMS 1585 U is perceived. Gloss finishes typically increase visual punch and saturation, which can make this color appear brighter and more vivid under direct lighting. Matte finishes reduce glare and reflections, which can be helpful in environments with strong or uneven light.
Viewing distance and lighting matter. Gloss often reads stronger from a distance, while matte can appear more controlled up close. If brand approval is critical, confirming the finish choice with a physical sample under the intended lighting is recommended.
The choice between matte and gloss will change how PMS 1585 U is perceived. Gloss finishes tend to increase visual punch and saturation, which can make bright Pantone colors feel more vivid. Matte finishes reduce glare and reflections, which can help with close viewing or strong lighting, but may appear slightly flatter.
Consider where and how the color will be seen. Long viewing distances and controlled lighting often benefit from gloss. Close viewing, photography, or variable lighting may favor matte. The Pantone reference stays the same, but finish selection affects the final visual impact.
The "U" in PMS 1585 U indicates the Pantone reference series and viewing condition used to define the color target. Pantone codes can exist in different series or contexts, and those differences can matter when accuracy is important.
When ordering paint matched to PMS 1585 U, confirm that this exact code matches your brand standards or source documentation. Ordering against the wrong Pantone reference can result in a color that is technically correct to a different standard but visually off for your intended application.

Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1585 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
