PMS 158 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual target in brand, marketing, and display applications. It presents as a bright, high-impact orange with a warm, energetic vibe that reads confident, attention-grabbing, and assertive in real-world environments.
The color appears mid-to-dark in value with an LRV of 28.13, and it shows a distinctly warm temperature leaning toward red-orange. It exhibits high saturation and strong chroma, producing a vivid appearance with a subtle red undertone that increases visual intensity.
PMS 158 U works well where strong brand visibility is required, such as signage, exhibits, and promotional structures viewed from a distance. Its saturation means coverage and finish choice should be evaluated carefully, as lighting and sheen can noticeably influence perceived brightness.
Similar colors:
PMS 157 U: slightly lighter and less saturated, with a softer orange presence.
PMS 159 U: darker and heavier in appearance, with increased depth and weight.
PMS 151 U: brighter and more yellow-leaning, with a more open and luminous feel.

Pantone PMS 158 U is often specified for brand-facing environments, but it should be evaluated in context before a full installation. Lighting in retail and pop-up spaces can significantly change how this color appears, especially under LED or mixed lighting.
Before committing to volume, it is best to apply a sample of the PMS 158 U matched paint on the actual substrate and view it under the installed lighting. This helps confirm visual acceptance, coverage expectations, and overall durability for the environment.
PMS 158 U is a Pantone reference color, not a paint formula, so results depend on the paint type, sheen, substrate, and lighting. For retail pop-ups and brand installations, confirm durability needs first, then evaluate a physical sample under the actual installed lighting. Highly saturated Pantone colors like PMS 158 U can shift in appearance between warm and cool lighting and may need additional coats for even coverage. Sampling on the real substrate before a full run helps reduce approval risk.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 158 U is custom made to order. Because it is produced specifically for your selected paint type, sheen, and quantity, it is not easily revised or returned once production begins.
To reduce risk, confirm the correct product format and sheen before ordering. For larger or high-visibility projects, ordering a small sample first is strongly recommended so approval can happen before full production.
Yes. Paint matched to PMS 158 U is custom made to order. Once produced, it cannot be restocked or easily revised. Before ordering, verify the paint type, sheen, and quantity, and consider ordering a sample if the project is high visibility or requires brand approval. Careful upfront selection is important because changes after production may require placing a new order.
When approving a Pantone PMS 158 U paint match, comparisons should be done under consistent lighting and on a consistent substrate. Different materials and lighting conditions can shift how this color is perceived.
Allow the coating to fully dry and cure before making a final judgment. Comparing a wet or partially cured surface can lead to incorrect conclusions about brightness or saturation.
Compare PMS 158 U samples under consistent lighting and on the same substrate whenever possible. Allow the coating to fully dry and cure before judging color, as appearance can change during drying. View the sample next to the Pantone reference at a normal viewing distance and angle. Minor visual variation is normal because Pantone is a color standard, not a coating specification.
To order Pantone PMS 158 U paint, start by selecting the paint format that fits your project needs, such as spray paint or another available option. Then choose the appropriate sheen and quantity.
Review your selections carefully before checkout, since Pantone matched paints are custom produced. If color approval or substrate testing is required, consider ordering a smaller amount first to confirm acceptance.
To order PMS 158 U, select the desired paint format, choose the sheen, and enter the required quantity. Review the selection carefully to be sure it matches your application and approval needs. If you are unsure about appearance, ordering a sample first can help confirm the match before committing to a larger quantity.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 158 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
