PMS 1565 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual reference for brand and specification work. It reads as warm, lively, approachable, and attention-forward, with a distinctly orange character that feels active without becoming overly red or muted.

The color presents as a mid-light orange with an LRV of 53.23 and a clear warm tendency. It shows high saturation with a subtle amber undertone, giving it strong visibility while maintaining warmth.

PMS 1565 U works well where strong brand visibility and color clarity are important, such as signage, displays, and experiential elements. Its saturation means surface preparation, finish choice, and lighting conditions can influence uniformity and perceived brightness.

Similar colors:

PMS 156 C: slightly brighter and more saturated, with a clearer orange intensity.
PMS 157 U: darker and warmer, with more depth and reduced lightness.
PMS 1555 U: lighter and softer, with a more open and less intense appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1565 U

What does the 'U' suffix mean for PMS 1565 U, and why does it matter when ordering paint?

PMS 1565 U is a Pantone PMS color reference that includes a suffix. Suffixes and series context can matter because they indicate the specific Pantone reference used in brand standards or documentation.

Before ordering, confirm that PMS 1565 U is the exact code specified by your brand or client. Pantone codes are communication standards, not paint formulas, so providing the correct full reference helps ensure the closest visual match to the intended Pantone target.

What does the 'U' mean in Pantone PMS 1565 U, and why does it matter when ordering paint?

In Pantone PMS 1565 U, the 'U' indicates the uncoated Pantone reference. Pantone codes can have different suffixes or series that represent how the color appears on specific reference materials.

When ordering a paint match, it is important to confirm that PMS 1565 U is the exact reference specified in your brand standards or project documentation. Using the wrong suffix or series can result in a color that looks noticeably different, even though the base number is the same.

Can PMS 1565 U be matched for metal or powder-coated parts?

Yes, PMS 1565 U can be custom matched for metal parts, including previously coated or powder-coated surfaces. Surface preparation such as cleaning and scuffing is important for proper adhesion and uniform appearance.

Be aware that existing coatings, substrate color, and gloss level can influence how the Pantone match appears. For branded components or high-visibility parts, it is recommended to evaluate a painted sample on the actual metal or coating before committing to a full run.

Can PMS 1565 U be matched for painting metal or powder-coated parts?

Yes, PMS 1565 U can be matched for metal parts, but surface preparation and existing coatings matter. Metal surfaces typically need to be properly cleaned and scuffed so the new coating adheres evenly.

If the part already has a powder coat or other finish, the existing color and gloss level can influence how the PMS 1565 U match appears. Because of this, evaluating a sample on the actual substrate and finish is recommended before committing to a full production run.

How should PMS 1565 U be evaluated for pop-ups or retail installations?

When using PMS 1565 U in pop-ups or retail environments, evaluate the color under the same lighting conditions where it will be installed. Lighting can significantly change how Pantone colors are perceived.

Durability requirements, finish choice, and substrate all affect final appearance. For larger brand experiences or permanent installations, reviewing a physical sample in context helps reduce approval risk before production.

How should PMS 1565 U be evaluated for pop-ups or retail environments?

For pop-ups and retail installations, PMS 1565 U should be evaluated under the same lighting conditions where it will be displayed. Lighting can significantly change how saturated Pantone colors are perceived.

Durability and finish selection also affect appearance over the life of the installation. For high-visibility or customer-facing environments, ordering samples and reviewing them in place helps confirm that the PMS 1565 U match meets brand expectations before larger builds.

Where can I find the SDS for paint matched to PMS 1565 U?

The SDS is tied to the specific paint product and chemistry, not to the Pantone color itself. PMS 1565 U is a color reference, so there is no standalone SDS for the code.

After selecting the paint type and format for your PMS 1565 U order, the corresponding SDS can be accessed from the SDS library for that product.

Where can I find the SDS for paint matched to PMS 1565 U?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 1565 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 1565 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1565 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
