PMS 122 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual reference in brand and marketing contexts. It presents as a vivid, warm yellow with an energetic, attention-forward presence that reads as cheerful, bold, and highly noticeable.
The color reads as light with an LRV of 70.03 and leans clearly warm. It shows high saturation with a subtle golden undertone, and higher-sheen finishes can make surface variation more apparent.
PMS 122 U works well in controlled brand environments where brightness and immediacy are desired. Due to its high saturation and lightness, it often benefits from a light or white primer and may require additional coats for even coverage, especially over darker substrates.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.
Similar colors:
PMS 121 U: slightly lighter and softer, with reduced visual intensity.
PMS 123 U: deeper and more saturated, with increased warmth.
PMS 7404 U: lighter and more pastel, with less chromatic strength.

Spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 122 U is intended for brand-facing visual applications, not long-term protective coatings. Durability depends on surface preparation, the paint type selected, and the environment where it will be used.
For displays, signage, prototypes, and exhibits, proper cleaning and priming typically provide adequate performance. In higher handling or outdoor situations, a compatible clear topcoat may be needed to improve resistance to scuffing and exposure. Always choose the paint system based on where and how the PMS 122 U color will be used.
A standard Pantone PMS 122 U match is appropriate when the Pantone PMS reference itself is the approved color target. This includes marketing displays, signage, exhibits, pop-ups, and branded environments where visual alignment to Pantone standards is required.
This option works well when you are not trying to match an existing painted surface, but instead need a clean, consistent reproduction of PMS 122 U across components or vendors.
Pantone PMS 122 U is commonly used in prototypes and concept models to confirm brand color appearance early in the design process. Spray paint, paint pens, or small-format bottles are often selected based on part size and level of detail.
For best results, evaluate the color on the actual substrate and under the lighting where the prototype will be reviewed. This helps identify any appearance shifts caused by finish, material, or lighting before moving into larger production.
Pantone PMS 122 U is commonly used on prototypes and concept models to represent brand color accurately during reviews and presentations. Spray paint is often chosen for even coverage on foam, plastic, wood, or metal substrates used in early-stage builds.
Because finish and substrate can affect how PMS 122 U appears, it is a good practice to evaluate the color under the lighting conditions where the prototype will be viewed. This helps ensure stakeholders are reacting to a realistic representation of the brand color.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 122 U is made to order. Production lead time varies by paint format, quantity, and current production volume.
Because this is not an off-the-shelf color, it is best to plan for additional time compared to standard stock paints, especially when ordering multiple formats or larger quantities for marketing or display projects.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 122 U is made to order, so lead time includes both production and shipping. The exact timing depends on the paint format selected, order quantity, and current production volume.
For marketing and display schedules with fixed deadlines, ordering early and allowing time for sample evaluation can reduce risk. If timing is critical, reviewing lead time expectations before placing the order helps ensure the color arrives when needed.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 122 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
