PMS 101 U is a Pantone PMS color recognized for its bright, open yellow appearance and strong visual energy. It is often chosen when a clear, attention-forward yellow is needed to support brand consistency and recognition.
The color is very light with an LRV of 80.73, reads as warm, and displays high saturation with a clean yellow undertone. Its vivid character can be sensitive to lighting and finish choices, which may affect perceived brightness.
PMS 101 U performs well in displays, signage, and prototypes where visual impact matters. Due to its lightness and chroma, it often benefits from careful surface preparation and may require additional coats to achieve even coverage.
Similar colors:
PMS 100 U: slightly lighter and softer, with less saturation.
PMS 102 U: slightly deeper and more intense, with increased yellow strength.
PMS 101 C: similar in hue but appears slightly richer and more defined.

Pantone PMS 101 U is a standardized Pantone color reference used to communicate an exact visual color target for brand-facing work. It is not a paint formula or finish specification. When a brand specifies PMS 101 U, the intent is that different vendors and materials aim for the same recognizable color appearance, helping logos, displays, and environments look consistent even when produced at different times or locations.
Pantone PMS 101 U is a standardized Pantone color reference used to communicate an exact brand color target. It is not a paint formula or finish specification. Brands use PMS 101 U so designers, fabricators, and vendors can align on the same visual color across signage, displays, prototypes, and marketing environments.
When you order paint matched to PMS 101 U, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone reference for brand-facing applications where consistency matters more than matching a specific existing surface.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 101 U is custom made to order. You should confirm the product type, sheen, and application method before ordering, because these choices affect how the color appears. Once produced, custom-made paint is difficult to revise. For important or high-visibility projects, ordering a sample first can help verify appearance under your specific conditions.

If PMS 101 U will be used in a high-visibility or brand-critical setting, ordering a sample first is recommended. This allows you to evaluate coverage, brightness, and overall appearance under real conditions before committing to a larger quantity.
The appearance of Pantone PMS 101 U can change based on lighting and viewing conditions. Daylight, LED, fluorescent, and warm interior lighting can each shift how the color is perceived. This effect, sometimes called metamerism, is why brand colors should be evaluated under the same lighting where they will be displayed, especially for retail, exhibits, or branded environments.

Pantone PMS 101 U is available as custom spray paint and other paint formats for branding and display applications. Common options include spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles, with other coatings offered depending on the application. Choosing the right format depends on surface size, detail level, and how the color will be applied.
Pantone PMS 101 U can be matched into several paint formats used for branding and display applications. Common options include custom spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles. Some projects may also use epoxy, urethane, or interior/exterior housepaint depending on application needs.
Choose the format based on how the color will be applied and viewed. Spray paint is often selected for even coverage on displays and signage, while pens or brush-in-cap bottles are better suited for small graphics or controlled applications.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 101 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
