PMS 7714 C is a standardized color from the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection. This color is visually distinct as a dark, cool, and saturated teal blue with a definite greenish-blue hue. Commonly described by professionals as bold, assertive, modern, and technical, it is valued for its visual strength and ability to stand out on branded materials. The overall vibe is strong, contemporary, and attention-grabbing with a controlled sense of sophistication.

PMS 7714 C appears distinctly dark due to its low LRV (14.51), giving it weight and visual richness. The color tends toward the cool side, with a hue angle indicating pronounced blue-green undertones. Saturation is high, resulting in a vivid and impactful presence. The undertone is balanced between blue and green, offering versatility within cool color palettes. This color may show shifts in appearance depending on gloss level and lighting, with higher gloss finishes intensifying chromaticity.

PMS 7714 C works effectively in contexts where a visually assertive and contemporary blue-green is required for brand consistency or environmental impact. It is best evaluated under the specified lighting and finish anticipated for end use, as both factors will influence perceived depth and vibrancy. Compared to similar saturated teal or blue-green Pantone colors, PMS 7714 C will stand out with its darker value and higher color purity, so it may appear richer and more dramatic in low-light or indirect-light settings. When using this color as paint, expect strong opacity challenges typical of highly saturated hues; multiple coats may be required for uniform coverage, and surface preparation should prioritize a neutral or white primer.

Similar colors:
PMS 7711 C – Slightly lighter and less intense, offering a softer take on blue-green tones.

PMS 3145 C – Cooler and more blue-forward, reducing the green influence seen in PMS 7714 C.

PMS 7470 C – Lighter and less dark, with a more pronounced green element.

PMS 308 C – Darker overall and leans farther blue, reducing the greenish aspect present in PMS 7714 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7714 C

Can I use Pantone PMS 7714 C as a touch-up color for existing products or coatings?

Pantone PMS 7714 C is a standardized color reference for specifying a target shade, but it does not define sheen, substrate, or application process. This means using PMS 7714 C as a touch-up standard for existing painted items is not recommended. Variations in original finish, gloss, or base material can cause a visible mismatch even if the base color is correct. For best results, touch-up work should reference the original product's exact paint formula, application method, and finish to ensure consistency.

What is the expected lead time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7714 C?

Paint matched to Pantone PMS 7714 C is made to order, so production lead times usually depend on the type of paint you choose and current order volume. Most standard custom-matched paint products for branding, display, or prototyping ship within several business days after your order is placed. For large projects or highly specialized formats, allow additional time for formulation and quality checks. If you have a strict deadline for a marketing or display installation, it is best to check estimated ship dates before placing your order.

How should Pantone PMS 7714 C be used for prototypes or concept models?

Pantone PMS 7714 C is commonly specified to maintain brand alignment in prototype and concept model workflows. To achieve visually consistent results, select a paint format that is appropriate for your prototype material, such as spray paint for even coverage or paint pens for detail work. Keep in mind that different finishes (matte, satin, gloss) and lighting can affect the perceived color, so it is important to review painted samples under the expected use conditions. For saturated colors like PMS 7714 C, plan for multiple coats and consider priming with a neutral base to ensure color uniformity.

What should I consider when using PMS 7714 C matched paint on plastics or low-surface-energy materials?

When applying PMS 7714 C matched paint to plastics or other low-energy materials, it is important to recognize that surface type affects paint adhesion. Some plastics require specialized primers or adhesion promoters for best results. Before full production or display use, apply the paint to a test area of your specific plastic substrate to confirm coverage and durability. For highly saturated shades like PMS 7714 C, using a white or neutral primer can also help improve color consistency and hide.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7714 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7714 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7714 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
