PMS 7706 C from the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection is a saturated azure blue with a noticeable cool cast and moderate darkness. Its visual impact is technical, assertive, and clean, with a contemporary appeal. The color is widely referenced for applications where brand color matching and visual reliability are important, such as marketing displays, branded environments, and fabricated signage.

PMS 7706 C presents as distinctly dark, with an LRV of 12.26. The color maintains a cool temperature, registering a blue bias with subtle bluish-green undertones. The color shows moderate chroma, resulting in vivid but not overpoweringly saturated appearance. This color is relatively sensitive to finish; higher gloss will emphasize its saturation and increase perceived depth, while matte finishes may mute its vibrancy. The undertone reads slightly teal, which can shift perceptually under different lighting conditions.

PMS 7706 C works well for brand environments, signage, and prototype work where a confident blue is required. It is critical to evaluate the color on actual materials and under target lighting; this blue can appear deeper or more muted, depending on surface finish and brightness of the environment. Relative to other saturated blues, PMS 7706 C offers a balance between vibrancy and control, but coverage may require attention due to the high pigment load associated with strong hues. Proper surface preparation and consistent finish selection are advised for uniform results.

Similar colors:
PMS 300 C – A lighter and slightly more vivid blue, appearing less teal and more pure blue.

PMS 7690 C – Darker and more neutral in tone, lacking the teal-green undertone of 7706 C.

PMS 7462 C – Slightly more chromatic and cooler, with a stronger blue presence and less visible green influence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7706 C

Why is it important that PMS 7706 C is reproduced by an authorized Pantone licensee?

Pantone PMS 7706 C is a standardized brand color used for critical visual branding. Using an authorized Pantone licensee like MyPerfectColor ensures the color is matched using Pantone's official digital and physical standards. This guarantees that PMS 7706 C paint matches the intended brand target, reducing the risk of off-brand results and ensuring alignment with Pantone's specifications. Unauthorized reproductions may not be measured or validated against the same standards and could result in visual mismatches.

What should I know about shipping times when ordering PMS 7706 C paint for a project?

Shipping transit time for Pantone PMS 7706 C paint depends on your shipping address, chosen service, and current carrier conditions. Standard and expedited options are available, but exact delivery dates can vary due to factors outside MyPerfectColor's control. If you have a firm install or display deadline, it is best to allow extra lead time and confirm delivery estimates before placing your order. Planning ahead minimizes project risk, especially for marketing and event schedules that require PMS 7706 C color accuracy.

Why is PMS 7706 C frequently specified for signs, displays, and exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 7706 C is widely used in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication because it provides a reliable, brand-standard blue recognized in visual identity programs. Specifying PMS 7706 C ensures all eyes see the same brand color regardless of material or vendor. For best results, it is recommended to sample the paint on actual project substrates and under installation lighting, since finish and lighting can affect the final perception of the color. This approach helps verify that PMS 7706 C meets branding expectations before committing to large-scale production.

When should I sample PMS 7706 C paint before ordering for a major brand installation?

Sampling PMS 7706 C is strongly recommended before full production on high-visibility projects, large-brand installations, or projects where approval is required. Variations in lighting, substrate, and finish can cause PMS 7706 C to appear different from digital previews or swatches. A physical sample allows you to check that the color appearance meets your brand standards on the actual material and under real lighting conditions. This step helps reduce risk and supports decision-making for brand consistency.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7706 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
