PMS 7704 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color, widely used in professional branding and identity systems for its distinctly vivid, medium-dark blue character. With a notably bold and technical vibe, it comes across as striking, modern, assertive, and visually distinctive, particularly in environments that require a recognizable presence and consistent reproduction across substrates.
PMS 7704 C appears as a deep, moderately dark blue; it has a lower light reflectance value (LRV ~19.8), so it absorbs a significant amount of light. The color is distinctly cool, sitting in the blue segment with hints that steer it away from warmth. It displays high chroma and saturation, resulting in strong color intensity and visual impact. Undertones run straightforwardly blue without significant green or purple bias in typical lighting. Perceptual depth and vividness can shift depending on finish; higher-gloss finishes may slightly amplify saturation, while matte finishes can mute intensity.
PMS 7704 C works well for projects requiring a strong, reliable brand identity or a visually differentiated cool blue accent. It maintains its presence in varied lighting but may appear darker in low-light conditions due to its lower LRV. Consistency is reliable across most finishes, but coverage can be challenging due to its high saturation—adequate priming and multiple coats are recommended to ensure even appearance. Compared to other saturated blues, PMS 7704 C remains cooler and less inclined to teal or violet fluctuation in standard viewing conditions.
Similar colors:
PMS 7462 C: Slightly lighter and less saturated, providing a cooler presence but reduced boldness.
PMS 300 C: More vivid and somewhat lighter, leaning toward a classic branding blue with higher brightness.
PMS 7710 C: Warmer, with a greener influence compared to the distinctly blue character of PMS 7704 C.

Pantone PMS 7704 C is specified by its unique code to support brand consistency across all marketing, display, and environmental applications. Because Pantone PMS colors are established as visual standards, using PMS 7704 C allows teams and vendors to reproduce the same deep blue color regardless of substrate or production method, keeping the brand's appearance uniform and recognizable in different locations and lighting conditions.
Sampling PMS 7704 C is recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or when the color will be used on different substrates or under varied lighting. Because PMS 7704 C is a saturated blue with high chroma, appearance can shift based on material, gloss, and lighting. Early sampling lets you confirm acceptance and helps avoid surprises or costly rework during installation or brand approval processes.
Pantone PMS codes like PMS 7704 C are precise identifiers, and the suffix (such as C for coated) calls out the intended reference standard. For accurate results, it is important to confirm the complete code from your brand guidelines or documentation before ordering. Using the wrong suffix or code can lead to color inconsistencies and brand alignment issues.
For best results with PMS 7704 C matched paint, start by cleaning and degreasing the surface to remove contaminants. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth areas to support adhesion, and make sure the substrate is dry and dust-free. When working with highly saturated colors like PMS 7704 C, it is especially important to spot test and use suitable primer to improve coverage and uniformity.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
