PMS 7686 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, a reference system used for consistent color reproduction in brand and display work. This shade offers a strong, technical, and vivid vibe, balanced with a distinctly modern and authoritative presence. It is notable for its medium-deep blue character, visual strength, and clarity, making it effective for identity and marketing uses where reliable blue representation is required.

PMS 7686 C presents as a distinctly dark, saturated blue. The color has a cool undertone, aligning with blue-violet on the color wheel. Saturation is high, yielding a visually strong and assertive appearance. The LRV (Light Reflectance Value) is 7.9, indicating significant darkness and low reflected light. This color can shift considerably in different lighting conditions, especially between daylight and artificial sources. PMS 7686 C can appear glossier or deeper depending on finish type; gloss increases vibrancy, while matte can subdue intensity.

PMS 7686 C works well for applications that require brand-compliant blue with high visual impact, including retail displays, signage, and corporate environments. Careful evaluation under intended lighting is essential, as low LRV and strong chroma can cause perceived shifts or make coverage more challenging—especially on light substrates, where multiple coats may be required. When compared to similar blues, PMS 7686 C is generally more saturated and carries a cooler, more violet-cast tone.

Similar colors:
PMS 2935 C – Slightly lighter and more vivid, leaning toward a brighter and less muted appearance.

PMS 280 C – Noticeably darker and more neutral, reducing some of the distinctive violet undertones.

PMS 286 C – Close in chroma but slightly lighter and less violet-shifted, appearing more "classic blue."

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7686 C

What should I know about coverage when applying PMS 7686 C paint for brand or marketing projects?

PMS 7686 C is a deep, saturated Pantone blue. Highly saturated colors like this may have lower hide, meaning multiple coats are often needed to achieve even, brand-consistent coverage. This can be especially noticeable over light or contrasting substrates. To help achieve a uniform result, plan for primer or additional coats, and always evaluate PMS 7686 C under your intended lighting and finish to confirm appearance.

How long will it take to receive PMS 7686 C paint once I place my order?

Transit time for PMS 7686 C paint depends on your location, chosen shipping method, and production timing. Shipping speeds can vary, so if you have a firm deadline for a project or event, plan ahead and confirm estimated delivery before ordering. Production lead times are separate from transit, so always review both when scheduling branded color applications.

Why is it important to confirm the full Pantone code, such as 'PMS 7686 C', before ordering paint?

The complete Pantone code, including suffixes like 'C', specifies the exact color standard you are targeting. For PMS 7686 C, the 'C' indicates the coated version in the Pantone system. Verifying the correct code in your brand guidelines or project specifications helps ensure the finished result aligns with expectations and avoids costly misorders.

If I need PMS 7686 C paint quickly for a deadline, are there expedited production options?

Expedited production is available for PMS 7686 C paint during checkout if you need faster turnaround. For urgent brand or marketing projects, select expedited options and consider contacting MyPerfectColor to confirm your deadline needs can be met before placing your order.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7686 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 7686 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7686 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
