PMS 7663 C from the Pantone PMS system is a strong, dark, blue-violet with a bold and technical vibe. The color is visually assertive, clean, and modern, lending itself to applications that require attention and strong differentiation. It is often perceived as sophisticated, corporate, and stable, making it suitable for environments seeking a professional and distinct visual identity.

PMS 7663 C appears distinctly dark and rich, with a low LRV of 6.57 indicating very limited reflectance.

The color exhibits a cool base with clear blue-violet tendencies.

Saturation is strong, giving the color a vivid, pronounced quality.

The undertone leans toward blue with subtle violet influence, creating a noticeable chroma.

This color is sensitive to finish; differences in gloss or matte can significantly alter perceived depth and intensity.

Appearance may shift under different lighting due to its depth and chromatic content.

PMS 7663 C works well for projects where a commanding, high-impact color is needed, especially in corporate, branded, or exhibit settings. Because of its darkness and saturation, it may require additional coats for full coverage, and substrate color can influence the finish; proper surface prep is recommended. This color can appear significantly deeper in low light, and sheen choices make a marked difference in how vibrant or subdued it appears compared to other dark, cool colors. For brand-critical environments, always review the color in both the intended lighting and finish context.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7662 C — Slightly lighter and less saturated, offering a more muted blue-violet profile.
  • PMS 7664 C — Marginally darker and more blue, with a cooler, more reserved character.
  • PMS 2097 C — Warmer and redder, shifting toward a purpler appearance compared to PMS 7663 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7663 C

Why is licensed and authorized reproduction important when ordering PMS 7663 C paint?

Pantone PMS 7663 C is a standardized color reference relied upon by brands and fabricators for consistent visual identity. When you order PMS 7663 C paint from MyPerfectColor, you benefit from an authorized process that ensures the color is reproduced according to Pantone standards. This is important because only licensed reproduction guarantees that your project will meet brand expectations and communicate your intended identity. Unauthorized mixes may not match the established standard, leading to inconsistent results across materials and installations.

How should I select the appropriate sheen for PMS 7663 C in my brand or display project?

PMS 7663 C is sensitive to finish, and different sheens can make the color appear deeper or more vibrant. A higher gloss can increase perceived brightness and saturation, while a matte finish will subdue the color and increase the sense of depth. Consider your viewing distance, the substrate, and intended visual impact when choosing sheen. For projects that must match brand standards, always review PMS 7663 C in your preferred sheen and lighting to confirm that the result aligns with your requirements.

What should I expect regarding durability when using spray paint matched to PMS 7663 C?

The durability of PMS 7663 C spray paint depends on the type of paint, substrate preparation, and the environment where it will be used. For best results, the surface should be clean, dry, and properly prepped. Using a compatible topcoat can increase durability for demanding or outdoor settings. Be mindful that heavily saturated, dark colors like PMS 7663 C may require extra coats for full coverage, and choosing the right spray paint type for your exposure needs is important for long-term performance.

What surface preparation steps should I follow for the best results with PMS 7663 C paint?

To achieve accurate, brand-consistent results with PMS 7663 C paint, start by cleaning and degreasing the substrate. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth surfaces to help the paint adhere. Always make sure the surface is dry and dust-free before painting. For critical projects, it is a good idea to apply a test spot to confirm adhesion and appearance before proceeding with full application. Proper surface preparation supports coverage and color alignment.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7663 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
