PMS 7660 C is a standardized color in the Pantone Matching System, used primarily in branding, environmental graphics, and specification-driven design. This color exhibits a medium darkness with a low to moderate light reflectance value (LRV 29.7), presenting a subdued, technical, and controlled vibe suitable for professional and institutional settings. Its muted chroma and cool undertones contribute to its practical, understated appearance.

PMS 7660 C appears as a medium-dark color, with a measured LRV of 29.7. The color leans toward the cool end of the spectrum, with a blue-violet hue. PMS 7660 C has moderate saturation, giving it a muted and controlled presence. The undertone is distinctly cool, skewing toward blue rather than red. This color can display subtle shifts in brightness and saturation depending on finish; higher gloss may emphasize blue notes.

PMS 7660 C is frequently chosen for its balance between distinction and restraint in brand presences where an overtly bright purple is not warranted. It performs reliably as an accent or secondary identity color, particularly where cooler hues must contrast or coordinate with warmer primary palettes. Careful evaluation is recommended under project-specific lighting, as this tone may appear deeper or more neutral depending on environment and paint finish. When transitioning among substrates or gloss levels, confirm the color’s appearance using physical samples, as perceived chroma and depth can make coverage and consistency more critical than for less saturated colors.

Similar colors:
PMS 7662 C: Slightly darker and deeper, resulting in a more pronounced neutral blue-violet.

PMS 7448 C: Noticeably darker and less vibrant, with a stronger grayish undertone.

PMS 2097 C: Cooler and lighter, delivering a brighter and more chromatic blue-violet effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7660 C

What should I know about coverage and hide for PMS 7660 C when used in paint applications?

PMS 7660 C has a muted blue-violet character with moderate chroma, but like many saturated Pantone colors, it may require extra attention for coverage. For brand and display work, expect that more coats may be needed to achieve solid, uniform color, especially over contrasting base colors or on highly absorbent or textured surfaces. Planning for adequate product and labor will help deliver a clean, consistent result aligned with brand expectations.

When is ordering a standard Pantone PMS 7660 C match the right choice?

Choosing a standard Pantone PMS 7660 C match is appropriate for projects where the color target is specified in brand guidelines or design briefs, including signage, displays, marketing installations, and prototypes. This approach is effective when you need consistent appearance aligned with Pantone references, and visual brand accuracy is more important than matching a specific substrate for touch-up or permanent installations.

Why might PMS 7660 C appear different across various materials or finishes?

PMS 7660 C can look different on different substrates due to factors like absorption, surface texture, and gloss. The same formula may appear deeper or more neutral on one material and slightly brighter or more vivid on another, depending on the surface and sheen. Evaluating the color on the actual material and finish used in your project is recommended to ensure it meets brand and visual requirements before moving to full production.

Are PMS 7660 C paint orders returnable if the finish or format is incorrect?

Paint matched to PMS 7660 C is custom made to order and generally cannot be returned or exchanged if the wrong product type or finish is selected. Carefully confirm the required format, sheen, and quantity for your project. When possible, order a sample to verify color and appearance on your intended surface before placing a full order, as adjustments are difficult after production begins.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7660 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7660 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 7660 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 7660 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7660 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
