PMS 7629 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection. This color is visually serious, muted, and stable, with a technical, understated, and substantial vibe. As a very dark, muted red with low light reflectance, it projects a grounded and professional tone suitable for core elements in brand identity and display fabrication.

PMS 7629 C displays a very low light reflectance value (LRV: 5.85), making it appear distinctly dark.

The color tends toward the warm end of the spectrum, with a muted red hue.

The saturation is moderate, lending a desaturated, mature impression.

This color shows subtle brownish undertones, preventing it from reading as overly vibrant or bright.

The appearance of PMS 7629 C may be sensitive to finish and lighting; glossier sheens can intensify depth and richness, while matte finishes emphasize its muted quality.

PMS 7629 C works well as a primary or accent color in branded environments where a dark, stable presence is needed. It is appropriate for signage, exhibit panels, and background fields where legibility and brand gravity are priorities. Low LRV means this color can absorb light, and should be tested under site lighting for final evaluation. Application on lighter substrates may benefit from a gray or tinted primer to ensure even coverage. PMS 7629 C may be more forgiving of minor surface imperfections than lighter or more saturated reds, but surface smoothness is still important for uniformity.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7627 C: Even darker and slightly more neutral, offering less warmth for a more somber effect.
  • PMS 7631 C: Lighter and higher in chroma, resulting in a brighter, more pronounced red appearance.
  • PMS 188 C: Warmer and deeper, with increased richness and a more classic burgundy tone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7629 C

How does surface texture affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7629 C paint?

The way Pantone PMS 7629 C looks can change significantly based on the surface texture. Smooth, glossy surfaces tend to reflect more light, making the color appear deeper and slightly richer, which can highlight the dark and muted qualities of PMS 7629 C. Matte or textured finishes scatter light and may make the color look lighter or less saturated. If consistency is critical, always test PMS 7629 C on the intended material and with the planned finish before final application to confirm you achieve the desired brand appearance.

Why should I order Pantone PMS 7629 C paint carefully?

All Pantone PMS 7629 C paint formats are custom made to order to match the specified color target. It is essential to confirm the correct product type, gloss level, and quantity before purchasing because custom-made paints cannot be easily changed or returned after production. When color accuracy or finish is especially critical, order a sample or test panel first to ensure PMS 7629 C meets your expectations on your intended substrate and under your project lighting.

What is the difference between Pantone PMS 7629 C as a color code and its name, and how does it affect ordering?

Pantone PMS 7629 C uses a specific code to define the exact color reference in the Pantone Matching System. While the name may describe the color verbally, the code 'PMS 7629 C' ensures clear, standardized communication across vendors and materials. When ordering, always use the full Pantone PMS code, including any letter suffixes like 'C' for coated, to avoid confusion. This practice reduces the risk of receiving the wrong product or an incorrect color match.

What preparation steps are recommended before applying Pantone PMS 7629 C paint?

To achieve the best results with Pantone PMS 7629 C, prepare all surfaces by thoroughly cleaning and degreasing to remove contaminants. Where appropriate, lightly scuff or sand the substrate to promote adhesion, making sure to remove all dust after sanding. Applying a primer may be especially important when covering light or highly textured surfaces, since PMS 7629 C is a dark and muted color with low light reflectance. Always test the paint on a small area first to confirm coverage and final appearance.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7629 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7629 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
