PMS 7628 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, a standardized color system used widely for specifying consistent color outcomes in branding, signage, and prototyping. The color presents a bold and energetic vibe, appearing assertive, saturated, and authoritative. With a low LRV of 9.1, PMS 7628 C is visually prominent but distinctly dark, supporting applications where strong color presence and distinct visual identity are required.

PMS 7628 C displays a deep red hue with an orange undertone, resulting in a warm, forward-appearing color.

The color is highly saturated, leading to strong visual impact.

With an LRV of 9.1, PMS 7628 C is quite dark and can absorb significant amounts of light.

PMS 7628 C tends to show moderate sensitivity to finish; gloss levels can affect the perceived intensity and brightness.

The base tone is assertively warm due to a notable orange influence.

PMS 7628 C works well where color consistency and brand presence are priorities, especially for signage, marketing installations, and branded displays. The depth of color requires attention to surface preparation and may need additional coats for uniform coverage, especially over lighter substrates. Its saturation and darkness can shift in appearance depending on lighting conditions and finish, so reviewing both a physical Pantone reference and a painted sample in the intended environment is recommended. This color generally appears bolder and warmer than similar deep reds, and may read as more complex in lower light.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 186 C: Slightly brighter and less dark, with a more neutral red tone.
  • PMS 7632 C: Deeper and cooler, with more burgundy undertones.
  • PMS 7621 C: Slightly lighter and more orange, increasing perceived warmth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7628 C

How does using Pantone PMS 7628 C help ensure consistent brand experiences across marketing and display projects?

Pantone PMS 7628 C is specified using a standardized color code from the Pantone Matching System, which allows brands and vendors to communicate an exact color target. By referencing PMS 7628 C in your marketing, signage, and display specifications, you help ensure that every element built by different suppliers shares the same recognizable deep red appearance. This consistency supports a cohesive brand identity across environments, even when multiple materials or vendors are involved. Always confirm the color using a physical Pantone reference to align your expectations with the production outcome.

What basic surface preparation steps are needed before applying paint matched to Pantone PMS 7628 C?

To achieve accurate color and finish with PMS 7628 C, start by cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease, or other contaminants. Use a degreaser if needed, and allow the surface to dry fully. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth surfaces with a fine abrasive to promote paint adhesion. Always test a small area with the PMS 7628 C paint to confirm appearance and coverage before full application. For strong, dark, and saturated colors like PMS 7628 C, additional coats may be required for uniform coverage, especially over light or contrasting substrates.

Why might Pantone PMS 7628 C look different when applied to multiple substrates or materials?

The appearance of PMS 7628 C may shift depending on the substrate due to factors like absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity. For example, painted metal, wood, and plastic can reflect light differently and absorb paint unevenly, affecting both color strength and sheen. For brand and display projects requiring strict color alignment, always evaluate a sample of PMS 7628 C on the specific material you will use in the final build, under the lighting conditions expected in the finished environment.

What is the typical production lead time for ordering paint matched to Pantone PMS 7628 C?

Paint matched to PMS 7628 C is made to order to ensure color accuracy for your brand project. Production lead time depends on the type of product (for example, spray paint or epoxy) and current production volume. While many common formats can be produced within a few business days, complex or high-volume orders may require more time. To keep your marketing or display schedule on track, order early and allow extra time for sampling, approval, and shipping.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7628 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7628 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7628 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
