PMS 7617 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS), a standard for consistent color reproduction used across branding, display fabrication, and industrial design. The color has a grounded, subdued, and technical appearance, with an understated yet impactful vibe. It conveys seriousness, stability, and warmth in applications where color consistency across materials and vendors is important.
PMS 7617 C appears dark and carries a low light reflectance value (LRV 5.76). The color has a predominantly warm tendency. This color exhibits muted saturation with a brownish-red undertone. PMS 7617 C can display increased depth and subtlety in matte or satin finishes, and may intensify in gloss; finish can noticeably alter its perceived richness. The color has very little visible chromatic vibrancy and sits in the earth tone family.
PMS 7617 C functions well in environments where a deep, reserved, and warm branded appearance is required. It provides stability and visual weight, often supporting primary brand accents or typographic elements. When specifying this color, be aware it can shift noticeably depending on gloss level and lighting—particularly in low light, the brown undertone may dominate. It is important to view a physical Pantone reference and paint sample in the intended finish and substrate. Compared to other deep reds or earthy hues, PMS 7617 C generally reads more neutral-brown and less saturated.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Pantone PMS 7617 C, like other Pantone colors, is defined as a standard color target rather than a specific paint formula. Achieving a visually accurate match in paint requires precise formulation and enhanced quality controls. Appearance may be influenced by application method, finish, and lighting. While MyPerfectColor specializes in matching Pantone standards, all Pantone colors carry some risk of perceptual differences, especially across different materials or finishes. To reduce surprises, always evaluate a painted sample of PMS 7617 C in your chosen format and lighting before finalizing any high-visibility projects.
The color appearance of PMS 7617 C can shift based on the substrate because material absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity influence how the paint looks. For example, a matte wood may show PMS 7617 C as more subdued, while a glossy metal finish might make the color appear deeper or richer. The same Pantone color target, when applied to different substrates, can seem warmer, cooler, lighter, or darker. It is best practice to review a painted sample of PMS 7617 C on the specific material and finish planned for your project to confirm it meets your expectations.
To order paint in PMS 7617 C, start by selecting the desired product type such as spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, epoxy, urethane, or housepaint. Next, choose your preferred finish or sheen, select the required quantity, and review any additional options for your application. Verify all details to ensure accuracy before completing checkout. For best results in brand environments, evaluate a sample of PMS 7617 C in the intended finish and under the lighting conditions where it will be used.
The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint matched to PMS 7617 C depends on the paint type, such as spray paint, epoxy, or housepaint, rather than the color itself. To locate the correct SDS, select the specific product in PMS 7617 C and access the SDS library available on the MyPerfectColor website for that product. This ensures you have the relevant safety and handling information for your chosen paint format.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
