PMS 2336 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a dark, subdued yellow-green that typically conveys a natural, muted, and technical presence. It is structured for environments where a quiet, grounded tone is required, and it offers a restrained appearance compared to more vivid greens in the Pantone system. The color’s vibe can be described as earthy, industrial, understated, serious, and stable.

- PMS 2336 C presents as a dark color, with a low LRV (7.12), making it visually heavy and minimizing light reflectance.
- The color has a cool undertone for a yellow-green, due to its muted chroma and lower brightness.
- The saturation level is low, contributing to a subdued, less vibrant appearance compared to standard signage or accent greens.
- The undertone is distinctly earthy, leaning toward an olive or moss character rather than a fresh or springlike hue.
- This color can appear even darker in low-light conditions and may shift slightly in perceived warmth or coolness depending on lighting temperature.

PMS 2336 C functions well in applications requiring an understated yet branded green, such as controlled brand environments, trade shows, or industrial-themed spaces. Its low reflectance and muted quality make it suitable for areas where visual distraction must be minimized or where a naturalistic appearance is desired. Care should be taken with lighting; inadequate illumination can cause the color to appear nearly black, while brighter, cooler lights may draw out its green notes. Surface texture and finish (gloss versus matte) can subtly influence its appearance, but the overall muted character remains consistent relative to other greens in the Pantone spectrum.

  • PMS 7495 C – Lighter and warmer, with more yellow present and higher perceived brightness.
  • PMS 5763 C – More chromatic and slightly brighter, offering a more vivid olive green impression.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2336 C

How will paint matched to PMS 2336 C compare to what I see in my Pantone book?

Pantone books are produced using specified inks on standardized paper and serve as reference standards for PMS 2336 C. When this color is reproduced as paint, its appearance can change based on the sheen, substrate material, and lighting. Paint can appear glossier or flatter, and darker colors like PMS 2336 C especially may look different on metal, plastic, or wood compared to swatches in the book. For applications where visual alignment matters, it is recommended to test samples on the actual substrate under real lighting conditions before full production.

When should I sample PMS 2336 C paint before committing to a full order?

Sampling PMS 2336 C is particularly important for high-visibility branding projects, large installations, and any situation where color approval is required. Because PMS 2336 C has a dark, muted yellow-green appearance and low reflectance, its look can shift in different lighting and on various substrates. If exact color presentation is critical to your brand or you have not previously reviewed paint on your intended surface, ordering a sample first helps ensure the final result meets expectations.

How is PMS 2336 C typically used in sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

PMS 2336 C is requested in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication to meet brand standards that require exact color targeting. Fabricators use this Pantone reference to ensure brand consistency across multiple materials and custom elements. Because actual appearance can vary by substrate and finish, sampling PMS 2336 C paint on the real material is a best practice before moving into full fabrication, especially for projects requiring close visual alignment to brand guidelines.

If you are not sure which paint type to select for PMS 2336 C, contact MyPerfectColor with information about your substrate material, whether the item will be used indoors or outdoors, and what finish you want. The team will help you pick a paint format that meets your visual and functional needs, supporting accurate color presentation for branded environments and displays. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2336 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
