PMS 2286 C is part of the Pantone PMS System / collection, designed for standardized brand and specification use across various media. The color presents as crisp, vibrant, and modern with a noticeably strong chroma. Its overall vibe is energetic, bold, and clean, with a technical and contemporary edge appropriate for marketing, display fabrication, and branded environments.

PMS 2286 C appears as a medium-light green, exhibiting moderate reflectance (LRV 47.32). The color leans cool due to a hue orientation above 120°, tending toward the blue side of the green spectrum. The color delivers high saturation, making it visually impactful and highly noticeable in most environments. PMS 2286 C maintains a distinct, fresh green undertone without significant yellow or olive influence. The color is sensitive to finish; gloss levels can increase the vibrancy while flatter finishes will subdue its intensity.

PMS 2286 C is effective where a clean, highly saturated green is required for branding, displays, or prototype components. Consider using this color in spaces where bold, cool-toned energy supports brand or design positioning. Due to its saturation, it may require more coats for full coverage, particularly over high-contrast substrates. Lighting and sheen selection will strongly influence its appearance; confirm visual alignment using both a physical Pantone reference and a painted sample under final viewing conditions. Compared to similar hues, PMS 2286 C delivers a cooler, more modern character and may read sharper or more technical.

Similar colors:
PMS 2278 C – Slightly lighter and less saturated, appearing milder and more subdued.

PMS 2411 C – Darker and slightly warmer, giving a deeper and more natural green tone.

PMS 347 C – Brighter and more chromatic, trending toward a purer green with stronger visual intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2286 C

How do I correctly order paint for Pantone PMS 2286 C without making a mistake with the color code or name?

To ensure you receive the intended color, always specify the full Pantone PMS code, including the suffix, when ordering paint for PMS 2286 C. The PMS code acts as a universal standard, so only use 'PMS 2286 C' and avoid ordering by just the color name or a description. Double check that any approval documents, purchase orders, and communication with vendors reference 'PMS 2286 C' and not a similar code or alternate suffix. This avoids confusion and ensures you get the targeted brand color for your project.

What is the recommended sampling process for Pantone PMS 2286 C in a brand approval workflow?

For projects where visual alignment is critical, order a small sample of Pantone PMS 2286 C in the intended paint type and finish. Apply this sample to the actual substrate under the final lighting conditions. Review the sample alongside an official Pantone reference to confirm correctness. This approach helps catch any appearance shifts due to lighting, sheen, or substrate, making it easier to address issues before full-scale production. Obtaining signoff on a sample ensures brand consistency and avoids costly rework.

When is ordering a standard Pantone PMS 2286 C match appropriate for my project?

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 2286 C match is suitable when your project involves brand-facing displays, signage, exhibit components, prototypes, or marketing installations where matching the Pantone reference is the primary goal. This approach is ideal for typical brand experiences and marketing environments, where visual impact and brand consistency matter most. If your application involves varied substrates or requires strict brand approval, sample evaluation on the actual material is recommended.

Are there specific VOC or safety concerns when using paint matched to Pantone PMS 2286 C?

VOC levels and safety requirements for Pantone PMS 2286 C depend entirely on the paint product and format you select. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the exact product you order. Follow all handling, ventilation, and personal protective equipment recommendations described in the SDS or on the product label. This ensures safe use, regardless of the color standard being matched.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2286 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
