PMS 2240 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, serving as a standardized reference for branded and display color communications. The color projects a clean, technical, and energized vibe, with a balanced blue-green character that provides visual separation from both pure blues and greens. It sits in a range valued for its clarity and vibrancy, frequently used when a fresh, modern teal is sought for high-visibility or marketing contexts.

PMS 2240 C appears as a midtone teal with moderate lightness (LRV 40.64). The color has a cool tendency, leaning more toward blue than green. PMS 2240 C displays medium-high saturation, reading as vivid but not neon. The undertone is distinctly aquatic, with neither muddy nor gray notes. This color can be sensitive to gloss levels, becoming crisper and more vivid in higher sheens, while matte finishes will appear more subdued.

PMS 2240 C is often used for signage, branded exhibits, and branded product displays where a modern teal is required. The color is specified in marketing materials and temporary installations needing identifiable and repeatable teal tones.

PMS 2240 C is operationally useful for projects that require a distinctive teal which stands out from standard blues or greens, especially in brand-centered environments. For optimal results, evaluate the color in the intended lighting and finish, as variations in gloss and ambient light can shift the perceived vibrancy and undertone. When comparing to similar teals, PMS 2240 C will generally read as cleaner and more balanced, without skewing overly blue or green. Surface smoothness and priming can impact overall consistency, especially for highly visible installations.

Similar colors:
PMS 7715 C: Slightly darker and more muted, producing a more subdued teal appearance.

PMS 3265 C: Brighter and lighter, with higher chroma and a more vivid green-blue character.

PMS 320 C: Deeper and less saturated, appearing closer to a classic turquoise.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2240 C

What should I consider when specifying Pantone PMS 2240 C for a pop-up display or retail environment?

For pop-ups or retail spaces using Pantone PMS 2240 C, review the finish and durability needs based on traffic and environmental exposure. Bright, brand-signature colors like PMS 2240 C can appear different under varied lighting and with different gloss levels. Before large-scale use, create a sample in your intended lighting and finish to confirm appearance. Evaluate surface smoothness and use recommended priming for the substrate to achieve consistent, brand-accurate results, especially in high-visibility projects.

Are there special considerations for applying PMS 2240 C paint to plastics or low-surface-energy materials?

When applying Pantone PMS 2240 C to plastics or low-energy substrates, know that paint adhesion can vary greatly depending on the material. Some plastics require special primers or surface treatments. Test the paint system on your exact substrate before full production to confirm adhesion and color performance. Following manufacturer guidance for each surface will help ensure both coverage and appearance are as expected for PMS 2240 C.

What does it mean to order a paint matched to Pantone PMS 2240 C?

Ordering paint matched to Pantone PMS 2240 C means you receive paint intended to visually match the standardized PMS 2240 C color as defined by Pantone. The PMS code specifies a visual color target, not a particular formula, process, or finish. Results may look different on various substrates and finishes. Always confirm that this approach aligns with your brand and project requirements before proceeding.

Can I use PMS 2240 C paint for touch-up applications on branded elements?

Pantone PMS 2240 C paint is created to deliver a brand-consistent color match for new or visually aligned components, not for touch-up or repair. For touch-up-grade color matching, where the goal is to blend into an existing coating, you should send a physical part for custom matching. Rely on PMS 2240 C paint for visual brand reproduction rather than for repairing finishes.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2240 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2240 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 2240 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 2240 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2240 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
