Pantone™ PMS 2238 C

PMS 2238 C paint is matched to the official Pantone reference, but a painted surface may look different than the PMS book due to sheen and substrate variations. Pantone books are reference standards made with ink on coated paper. This means the same color formula will appear differently when applied to plastic, metal, wood, or other materials, and the visual effect is also influenced by gloss or matte finish. For approval workflows, always compare samples of PMS 2238 C painted on your actual project material and under the intended lighting conditions. This helps ensure the final result meets your expectations for color accuracy and brand consistency.

The finish you select for PMS 2238 C will affect its perceived color intensity and brightness. A gloss or semi-gloss finish makes PMS 2238 C appear brighter and more vibrant, while a matte or flat finish will mute its color and reduce reflections. Consider the intended viewing distance, the substrate you are painting, and the desired level of visual impact. If your goal is high brand visibility and color pop, glossier finishes may be suitable. For reduced glare or more subtle presentations, a matte finish is often chosen. Always sample the finish on your actual substrate before committing to a large order.

Even though PMS 2238 C is a standardized color, its appearance can shift between materials because of differences in absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity. For example, a glossy painted metal surface may make PMS 2238 C appear deeper and more saturated, while a matte plastic or porous wood surface can result in a more muted effect. To achieve consistent brand color across materials, always evaluate PMS 2238 C on each type of substrate used in your project and under the same lighting as the final installation. Sampling helps prevent surprises in multi-material builds.

For brand-critical work, it is best to order a small sample of PMS 2238 C in the format and finish planned for the final build. Apply this sample to the actual substrate and view it under the installed lighting conditions. This approach gives an accurate sense of how PMS 2238 C will look in its final setting. Once your team or client reviews and approves the sample, you can confidently proceed with full production, reducing risk of costly rework due to unexpected color results.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
